I wouldn't be in pain anymore. (I don't believe in an afterlife, or in Heaven or Hell). It would be difficult on the people who love me, and that's a big part of why I don't do it. But who's being selfish there? I think my loved ones are being selfish because they want me to stay alive, even if I'm in horrible pain, just because it will reduce their pain - and because they say I might feel better. Well, I might. But I might not. I haven't felt better for the last four years. What's wrong with eventually giving up trying? I don't believe that being alive is good in and of itself.
