What if this life is just a test to see if and how we become so attached to it? I have been reading a lot about this material superficial world and I’ve been giving it a lot of my own thought. When it is explored, isn’t everything of this world materialistic and superficial, including relationships, even family relationships? Isn’t the love of another human being just another addiction of this existence? Isn’t finding a purpose for yourself in helping others just another addiction, something that makes you feel good?Â
What is the purpose of feeling good if not to just stop you from feeling bad? Why would life, without any addictions, make you feel bad? Surely life itself without any influence of the material world would fill you with pure love and peace? That’s something we will never know because any person that does live such a life is not available online or even in person to tell us. There’s certainly no-one on here that can say they live such a life.Â
I don’t see how suicide should be any more or less judged, than those choosing to live. Aren’t we all just searching for a feeling of pure love and peace? Whose to say a persons existence of this material world is any better a choice than someone looking for it beyond that?

Any person that is happy on this earth but quickly be not happy if he/she had all their belongings taken away and they were taken from their relationships, so that means that happiness in this life IS relative to what you ‘have’. Even if you say ‘oh I know a guy that has no money and no friends or family and he’s still happy’ yes but something makes him happy and you can be assured that whatever it is COULD be removed from him.
And, a lot of people that have everything are still suicidal, so I agree that everyone is just looking for a purer and lasting feeling of joy and peace than what anything here on earth can offer.
I agree with the point that you make about addictions and that everything we do is some form of addiction to make us feel good, I have always believed that, even those that help others do it for that reason. So it does pose very big questions.
I know it’s only for very deep thinkers, but I do constantly ask about the purpose of this life, because any reason that anyone can give to the point of life IS MATERIAL, even helping others, because you can only ever help another person materially, and yes that is also words. If a person truly believes that they ‘saved’ someone with words or changed their lives, they didn’t, it’s just not true. That person who heard those words KNEW them, they had just forgotten them, they would have remembered them without the help of another. It’s another illusion we have created for ourselves to feed our ego. You can NEVER really talk to someone’s soul, they only hear what they already know, which is why if you speak to someone about something that they do not not, they usually react aggressively.
I think some people just see through this material world and those people will never be happy here, I personally believe that that is the real diagnoses of ‘depressed’ people. They just see this world for what it is. Not all depressed people ‘hate’ the world, most of them just see through it and know it means nothing to them and who in the right mind wants to do meaningless stuff day in day out for years on end?
I’m not talking here of ALL depressed people, I appreciate a lot of people feel depressed due their circumstances and if those circumstances could be changed then they would be alright.
I think a lot of people judge suicide negatively because in some way they fear it and they feel insulted that someone thinks so little of the world they think so highly of, and it shows them that this world that they are so attached to can actually just be terminated in minutes, so it makes them feel very uneasy about that.
