Its comforting to see so many other people feel the same way. And if there’s this many replying, imagine how many more people feel what we feel but never say anything. I always find it irritating when I hear people say “suicide is selfish”. Really? If you know someone who’s utterly miserable and just plain wants out, why would you want to keep that person alive? Now who’s selfish? People spew out that statement about suicide being selfish because they hear it from other people but they dont’ THINK about what they are saying. We euthanize animals when there is no quality of life. Who’s to say that a person shouldn’t be allowed to self deliver, especially when they never asked to be here in the first place. Another good one is “suicide is cowardly”. Really? Whoever says that would NEVER be able to muster the courage to go through with it and has never felt the pain that drives the desire to end one’s life. There’s a book called the Peaceful Pill Handbook and of course, everyone’s favourite, Final exit, both are excellent reads, especially just before bed. Probably better to buy a copy as I’m sure they probably don’t make it back to the library.

Couldn’t agree more. My whole family thinks when I attempted suicide I was “selfish” I felt selfish too. I made them pay for hospital bills and all that stuff. I just wish they could see what it’s like to feel this way.
deepsixer, Have u ever lost someone to suicide? If not then u don’t know what its like to walk down that road either! How many posts on here state that they can’t nor want to tell people how they really feel, how they lie to their doctors, family friends. So don’t tell us that we are selfish for not wanting our loved ones back just to be given the opportunity to try and help them with the information we know now and didn’t then!

Believe me, you weren’t being selfish. Pain exceeds ability to cope and then suicide attempts or completions are what the result is.

Yes, I’ve lost many a friend/acquaintance to self deliverance, as if its any of your concern. Before you shoot your mouth off next time, perhaps ask first. This site is a support source, and you have nothing to offer in that regard, so its best you don’t post comments.
deepsixer…I did ask first…I just happend to carry on shooting my mouth off before u answered. My appology for that much. But I won’t appologize for anything else because I didn’t ask to be forced down this road as a suicide suvior. If I at least had an idea of how she was feeling then maybe, just maybe I might of been able to help her. But when the truth of how one is truly feeling isnt’ revealed then every day u are tortued by the” what ifs” and the “if only” and the biggest is the “WHY”
I’m sorry for you pain and suffering that I sincerly mean, but I can’t help my feelings for the life I’ve been thrown into when I never asked for it.

chances are, you had nothing to do with what happened to your friend/loved one’s decision to end her life. For all you know, you may have been the only reason for her to stay alive as long as she did, and probably an even greater chance that if she told you her feelings, she would have killed herself anyway. Talking can only help so much sometimes. She’d obviously had enough. The sad part is how much she was suffering when she was alive. She is not suffering anymore. The real issue is, you miss her greatly, and that’s completely understandable.

I am so sad to know there are so many of you people on this site that are suffering and in such pain. I hope and pray for a miracle for each and every one of u on here. I just hope u find peace.
