Me too I’d like to know, my psych suggested cymbalta but I am not getting good reviews from the internet and apparently the serotonin deficiency hypothesis is a fraud and all these people want to do is sell ******’s….I’d like to know if they help before taking any more medicines as I have just come off a psychiatric medicine that basically made me suicidal…..they don’t tell you this shit before they give you it…doctors and psychiatrists are just paper pushers they don’t know jack in my opinion. But any way any suggestions?
Really, it depends on the person, the severity of the depression/anxiety, & their body chemistry. You usually don’t know how effective they’ll be until you try them, and you might have to experiment with the dosage or the type of medication to get the maximum benefit. I’ve seen them greatly help some people, so it’s worth a shot. Typically, the most improvement is when a person takes meds and goes through some counseling, as well.
I was on meds for 1.5 years. In that time, I lost 3 more jobs, got arrested twice, and slept alone every night. What’s more, they did absolutely nothing to help my disposition for more than about a week. All I learned in that time was that the problem isn’t the chemicals in my brain — it’s that Reality won’t stop fighting with me, and pills aren’t going to fix that.
i’ve been on lexapro since the 5th grade (4 years) and it works really well for me and i only take half a pill and i can tell if i’ve forgotten t take it cause i can feel the anxiety creeping back but once i take it the next day i’m much better… hope it helps.
I take two types of meds. Cymbalta and seroquel. Plus I see someone every other week. I must say I feel no better now then when I was found to have depression. I feel I am on a prolong crash course for death.
First thing that should be said is that any medication is no way a cure for Depression, its meant to ease the symptoms. I thought that my medication was doing nothing for the longest time, but now i can look back and see that it helped in the long run. I still take them, and well if i forget to take them that’s going to be a bad day for me
