who else is sick of stereotypes and people judging? i know i am, but i also know i judge as well. tho i try not to..
well my half idea is.. we should do something about it don’t you think? i want to do something like on the movie ‘pay it forward’ if you haven’t seen that movie watch the trailer, you will still understand :). but the thing is, my brain runs dry when i try to think of what do to. so i need some help. i think this project will keep me busy. so my depression might be pushed to the back of my head.
so if you have ideas or suggestions please share. and i don’t want to do this alone either. i want use all to be apart of it 😀
lol is it even possible to not judge things? Kind of like filling in the fields in a database I would think. Just makes it easier for our minds to process all the information presented to us each day. Its not even really conscious. You want to fit everything into a category so its easier to remember. Same with stereotypes they are generally easy to remember and while they might not always be completely accurate they are a good place to start. Now that being said people should really keep their judgments to themselves for the most part.
yes by stoping judging i meant just keeping it to yourself.. but i want to lessen the stereotypes… lol if that makes sense
What a beautiful thought, I’m not sure how to pay it forward.. but I have a small idea –
You’re in school, yes? It’s a big task to take on yourself, so maybe pitch an idea to a guidance counselor or your favorite teacher…project melting pot. So usually people are able to pick study partners and so on and so forth… but it’s just as normal to have assigned partners designated by the teacher.
If they’re given a choice, people will always choose what is familiar to them and they will pair up with their friends, go to the same areas to work etc. But if the teacher assigned ‘the odd couple’ and paired the goth with the cheerleader they might find out so and so isn’t quite as odd as they thought and start seeing them as a person and not as the stereotype they originally viewed them as.
But, the stereotypes will want to perpetuate themselves and the goth will go ‘NOOOO I don’t want to work with that airhead bimbo slut’ and the cheerleader will go ‘omigawd I don’t want to work with that creepo goth chick, like, for serious’ and they may not let themselves open up enough to learn anything from the situation, but you can’t force people to learn if they don’t want to (but at least you can try and nudge them:)
