A metaphor for my life…

by johnwhogivesashit

If my life were a video game. I would be playing halo on legendary only to spend 30 minutes trying to beat “the library” 5 levels of nonstop killing and traps up back and front in under 30 only to get killed by the last shit enemy and 1 step and second from the finsh. Round 1000 here we go. Eventually you give up and throw the xbox through your flat screen. Or you kill yourself. I’ll probably just kill myself soon and save all the supense. Why hope. Why try again. The game kinda sucks after a while anyway.

I played the first halo on pc… briefly. So i have no idea what you’re talking about. Except that i know exactly what you’re talking about, because almost all games are the same game with different textures and scripts.

I used to want a game i could “marry.” Something i could stick with long-term, indefinitely, that never really had to end… which requires participation of, and interaction with, other people who also play. This created a problem for me, because during the course of playing such “MMOs,” i realized: i don’t like people very much… even though i see that the best part of gaming, is gaming with other people. Ever since i realized that, i haven’t been able to stick with any game. Single player games either can’t hold my attention, or are too short; multiplayer games expose me to other people, and i inevitably lose interest.

LOL! Great stuff. I’ve lost count of how many years it’s been since i damaged anything in a fit of rage. At least, in relation to video games.

At some point i stopped feeling like games were worth caring enough about to ever be “enraged.” Maybe it was all the “umadbro?” That made me realize it’s kinda ridiculous to be mad about any game incident, for any reason… unless you’ve sunk lots of real money into digital goods, and somehow lose them.

You took a literal translation…its a metaphor!!! The post isnt even about games. Its about failing again and again. The game of life is getting old

You said it was a metaphor. I didn’t miss it. I just didn’t discuss on the same metaphorical terms, but instead, related some gaming experiences of my own, which can be like metaphors for my own life.

Playing with others made me realize i don’t like people very much… after thinking “other people” was the whole point, and why anything was ever interesting. Single player life is boring. Multiplayer life is annoying, irritating, and makes me dislike “the game.” I had many good times with some good games, before i realized i wasn’t that interested in playing anymore. The rules are rigged and the other players bother me. There’s some cool people out there, but i’m tired of looking for needles in haystacks. Maybe a better approach would be to burn ’em all down and use a metal detector to comb the ashes (although i confused myself with that part of the metaphor).
