I wonder if/when amazon will start selling seeds…

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 3:05 pm

I think they sell salvia…

clevername 6/30/2014 - 3:12 pm

have you ever tried salvia? I’ve only tried it twice, and i have to say, it was kinda scary (or rather disconcerting, not necessarily “scary”), but very brief. Not something i would recommend. I only recently learned salvia is genetically similar/related to Sage. It was a total mystery to me when i tried it (over a decade ago).

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 3:16 pm

I want to try salvia, for some reason unknown to me, it just sounds like something I should try, at least just once. It’s more of a hippie in the desert smoking scenario, but alas…

Btw, cn, I left a link to “Cannibus Energy Drink” but it ended up in the mod room, lol, it’s on sale at amazon, I wonder how ‘energetic’ you’d feel after that o.o

clevername 6/30/2014 - 3:22 pm

Some sativas are legendarily known for their uplifting, inspiring, stimulant-like qualities. I could certainly see it being useful in “energy” supplement products. (although i prefer to remain skeptical about anything marketed as an “energy drink…” it’s probably mostly sugar)

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 3:23 pm

They have seeds too apparently, that link was modded as well, if people actually do this idk… I’ve always used an alias john doe name on amazon, so I wonder how that would turn out, not that I’m willing to try it..

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 3:24 pm

So mental positive energy, not actual physical energy then I suppose..

clevername 6/30/2014 - 3:30 pm

So, i find it entirely amusing that there is indeed apparently a cannabis seed market on amazon. lol.

clevername 6/30/2014 - 3:36 pm

The best way i can describe my experience with salvia, is that i was like a combination of a blackout and going directly into an intense dreamlike state, at the same time. Total loss of bodily control, very Not mellow at all, and thankfully short. It left me feeling confused and thankful to be out of the effect range, but had a sort of lingering “i just woke up” feeling, even though i had actually woken up many hours prior to the experiment. Both times it was like this, but with the difference that the first time, i had no idea what to expect, and so the second time wasn’t quite as disconcerting, but was merely a confirmation of what happened the first time. Definitely not a suitable cannabis alternative, and i would strongly caution anyone who wants to try it: the same rules as hallucinogens apply: you must be in a safe place, and have at least one person to monitor you, just in case you have an adverse reaction (aka “bad trip”) and freak out, or worse.

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 3:38 pm

Common sense says no, but how often would anyone even bother to look? Lol.
I feel like this has Sting written all over it. Well now, if I’m ever being framed by a high ranking judge, I know just what to send to *his* mailbox…

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 3:41 pm

Yeah, I’ve read stories about people tied to beds on bad salvia trips so they don’t hurt themselves, lol, uh, fun. Idk if anyone ever learns anything, I.e. takes anything back with them after the trip but it sounds generally undesirable..

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 4:00 pm

Lol, I don’t know why I’m so worried about my joke, but in reality they’d just check the debit/credit card the seeds were purchased with and trace it back to me. Hmmm… so in order for this joke to work, I’d trail the corrupt judge across town, wait for him to stop at a grocery store, at the checkout line I’d have my camera phone ready on silent, accidenty knock said judges groceries and personal effects off the counter with my own overloaded bag of goods when he pulled out his debit or credit card, and politely swooping down to pick up his things, subtly and quickly snap a photo of his/her card while on the ground amidst the confusion, thereby attaining the only prequisite I would need to send ol’ judgie a nice thc ridden surprise from amazon.com with his own personal information… muhuhahahahahahaha!!!
There, now my joke works. ๐Ÿ™‚

clevername 6/30/2014 - 4:02 pm

sounds like a job for Anonymous!

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 4:06 pm

Lol, Anonymous who??…. actually isn’t there an Anonymous on here?

DreamCatcher 6/30/2014 - 3:05 pm

@PainNlife pizza sounds good right now o.o

xanadu 6/30/2014 - 3:36 pm

I need to get into that industry. Damnit, why did I not know about this? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

clevername 6/30/2014 - 4:23 pm

only 2 lvls of nesting available, so when someone throws a nested reply, i tend to reply under that one in the same lvl…

Which industry? The stimulant-like sativas? lol. Do some research on african landrace strains.

Most of what is commonly available in the U.S. is either imported commercial mexican “brick,” which is rarely of preferable quality, and is often quite seeded… and then there’s the typically fast growing and bushy indicas, which are notorious (and renowned) for their “couch lock” effect (which is often attributed to CBD, the “medical” chemical people are talking about recently, but can also be attributed to CBN*, which is present in inversely proportionate amounts to THC, as the THC degrades into CBN… supposedly… so CBD=Good, CBN=Bad). Indicas are typically “body effect,” where sativas are typically “cerebral,” and tend to have those uplifting, energizing, inspiring mental clarity properties… but hybrids and crosses are often a combination of various effects from their parent genetics, and it’s possible to have a plant that looks like sativa, but produces more indica style effects, and vice versa. It’s also possible that some genotypes can produce multiple phenotypes from the same set of parent genetics, which is typically referred to as the genotype being “unstable,” because you don’t know what phenotype characteristics will manifest from the seed, until you grow it out… kinda like humans with eye color, hair color, wavy or curly or straight, tall or short, thick or thin, etc. A “stable” strain means that you’re pretty much guaranteed to get a phenotype very similar to the parents, if not identical.

And then there’s all the new designer “mutant weed,” with all the crazy backcrossing and self-breeding, to “feminize” the seeds, and mixing of ruderalis to cause faster growth and “autoflowering.” While i think “hey that sounds convenient!” I’m also wary of consuming it, because who knows what other DNA changes might happen from such Frankenstein-ing? We can look at humans and see problems when two people too closely related reproduce… so it’s not really unreasonable to wonder if backcrossing and self-breeding and autoflowering might produce unwanted or even dangerous alterations in the plant’s genetics. I would prefer to use “old school” genetics that haven’t been “corrupted” by such experimental genetic manipulation… but on the other hand, perhaps i have already smoked “mutant weed” and not even known? Maybe it doesn’t cause the plant to produce anything harmful… or maybe it does? And this is an important part of why it needs to be legalized: we need to preserve the original, unmolested genetics, just in case we later discover problems that could harm us. We can’t let cannabis go extinct, or be genetically manipulated into becoming an actually harmful substance. And i’m very worried that if we let gov’t have full control of regulating and producing, that’s exactly what they’ll do.

I also read somewhere that the “super-top-secret” only federally legal experimental research grow up, at a university in Mississippi, has actually produced a strain that tested at an unprecedented 37% THC! (as in, the total plant material content of the buds, is literally more than one third THC…)

takeeverything 6/30/2014 - 4:33 pm

I wonder if there are cannibus seeds in the Svalbard seed vault… surely those seeds would be undeterred.

I think semi-legal is they way to go, shops where you just give any piss poor doctors’ excuse and they hand you your herbal remedies. Of course it would depend on your initiative to acquire the license, but if you can’t obtain one then you probably aren’t desperate enough anyway.

clevername 6/30/2014 - 5:09 pm

The right way to go is not punishing people who don’t cause harm to others.

There needs to be a way to regulate sales, whether private or corporate, and a way to ensure that anything that anyone is selling is unadulterated. If you’re selling, you should have to report your revenue, but only because it involves money. Perhaps make it illegal to sell without a license, but make it as easy to obtain — and revoke — as a driver’s license. It’s not illegal to operate a vehicle on private property without a license. It should not be illegal to cultivate or consume, in private property, without a license. It should require a license, in order to sell more than a small amount, during some designated period of time. It should be completely legal for adults to grow and share among themselves, on their own property, in their own residence; this will not deter the appeal of having a convenient commercially available option, and that option should be taxed, regulated, and require ID. But we should be allowed to have “as much as we can carry,” and if we possess more than that amount, it could be seen as a license violation, and construed as “business without license.”

IMO, “tax evasion” is already a heavy enough penalty for anyone who might want to deal without a license. This would allow tax evaders to be prosecuted, while allowing law-abiding citizens to function within the law, while also providing revenue to the state and federal gov’t. Win win win. This is the way it should be. All the other details like “stoned driving” are secondary to the problem that as a human being, it is my right to do whatever pleases me, as long as i don’t impinge the liberty or well-being of another.

xanadu 6/30/2014 - 8:28 pm

I meant the amazon.com seed industry – but I definitely feel ya on the convenience strains… I don’t like growing anything that’s been genetically tampered with, at least not in weird inbreeding sorts of ways. Too Monsanto-ish for my tastes.

xanadu 6/30/2014 - 3:44 pm

Sorry, that was intended for cn. ๐Ÿ˜› Whoops. Nesting is confusing.
