past life lessons & old souls

by kateralia

Anybody here believe in reincarnation or past lives or the zodiac? I know its more common these days to find others who believe in the same, but of course everyone has their own opinion on it.

Anyway, I believe I have had past lives & many times I have been told I am an old soul.   One old friend once told me that the zodiac sign that you are born under, says how old your soul is & how many life lessons are still to be learned. Each life you live there is a lesson for your spirit to learn & once you learn that, your spirit moves onto the next one.  Sometimes you don’t know what that lesson is, but your spirit does.

Now I’m a Sagittarius,  which according to his theory, I am definitely an old soul, with just one more life to live. I have looked at others ive met over the years, & realized that this theory could possibly be true. Those that were born in the beginning of the year, were more deeply childish, whereas those born at the end of year, these ‘old souls’ could act childish, but you could see that they had more substance to them.

This is why I believe how people can be ‘old souls’ cos their spirit has learned all these lessons.

But another theory I heard is that if you commit suicide,  your soul has to start all over again, from the beginning. Kind of like ‘go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200’. Lol.

What do you guys think?

Ps. I had my palm read finally a couple of years ago, & boy were they excited! You see, my hands are literally a maze of lines. Anyway, she told me that someone had saved my life once. & that is completely true.

I’m a massive believer in the zodiac and past lives. I too am an “old soul”, I’ve been told by multiple people. I’ve had many past life flash backs and experiences and I was born into this world knowing things and understanding things that I’ve never in this lifetime experienced. I too am a sagi 🙂 proud to be an old soul and a fire sign.

Well you may want to look unto vedic astrology. Im am Aquarius, my Ascendant is Aquarius, my moon sign is in Pisces. Anyway I dont think when people ctb they have to start over. Its stupid logic because in every life you experience something right, suicide is just one experience. In one life you could have been a murder or a rapist, so if committing suicide means you have to start over then why the fuck dont they say this shit for killers and what not.

DeathDreamer7 9/24/2014 - 6:25 am

Elliyis – I agree with you. They always say how suicide is the worst sin but how can ending your own pain be worse than taking the life of someone who actually wants to live? I don’t think we will start over. It makes sense that we’ll be incarnated again, but maybe this time somewhere else.

I just wish I’d come back as a bird. I want to know what it’s like to be a bird. A hawk or an eagle, I think… I want to rule the skies. Sadly I don’t think living a life as a bird is on my cards in my near future(s).

I want to come back as a duck

I’m a Taurus so that means I’m half way there?

Do you think that at the end of the 12 cycle you start again with a new, untarnished soul fresh to learn everything?

What if our soul returns to life but we never learn anything from our previous life and we just repeat the same thought process over and over again? So if we commit suicide once we will always commit suicide because it is the only way our soul knows how to do with the overwhelming emotions of life. Or maybe, to continue with suicide, in our first life we commited suicide for a different – could have been a Samurai who did so in honour, could have been somebody who chose to sacrifice themselves one life for tens or hundreds of people, but that was it for the rest of our reincarnated lives we will commit suicide in various forms as our destiny. Who knows? I’m crazy and stupid so that explains my stupid thought process.

I love these theories on people’s beliefs you can learn so much. Nothing can be proven or disproven, it’s all fascinating to me.

I’ve often thought if there is something more to our soul than just living on Earth what the consequence of Suicide would be. I lean towards our soul inhabiting a fleshy vessel to learn…something, a lesson, a teaching of value to take back where it came from and progress to the next level but naturally there has to be some kind of regression if you take that line of thought. I guess I’ll find out when I kill myself what the consequence of suicide to the universe is.

Anunnaki & Elliyis – you both have made me think & feel a lot calmer about this.
Elliyis & DeathDreamer7 – I agree with you.
Anunnaki – I too have crazy stupid thought processes, thats why no shrink can help me.

Thankyou 🙂

Perhaps a shrink can’t help you because no amount of studying for exams and “going by the book” can prepare for somebody who is in touch with … something else in this universe. You can’t find these thoughts of yours your just wrote above in an exam, it comes from the heart. You might not even need help you might just need someone who understands where you’re coming from.

Stupid, crazy, it’s all subjective.

Your friend thought that the months of the year dictate whether you’re an “old soul” or not? …that doesn’t make sense. The primary yearly planner that is used today is the Georgian calendar, which originated in 1582. Early Chinese calendars generally had 12 months and around 30 days for each as well. However, the time of year that one is born definitely does not dictate their maturity level. I’m a Sagittarius, and I’ve met other Sagittarius who seem like children, whereas I’ve encountered lots of Earth signs who seem a bit more ‘stable’ and predictable. Not every Earth sign, mind you. One should study their entire birth chart to find a close description of their personality. Mutables, Fixed, and Cardinal sun signs, along with every other placement in their chart – they’ll all going to have varying characteristics. By the logic you’re using here, you’d think that Capricorns would be the most wise and mature people ever. Pfft. Absolutely NOT true.

P.S. Giving a shout out for water signs here. Love them. Pisces are awesome. <3 (Intuitive, understanding, deep-thinker, spiritual, imaginative, creative visionary, etc.)

I was a bit lazy in my writing. When I was saying the beginning of the year, I meant the start of the zodiac.

The zodiac goes back to Babylon and was used to represent more than just a month. A prophet 😉 is said to return at the end of each turn.

I believe in naturalistic reincarnation. All of your cells were once organized as a different body, then you ate some stuff and the cells from what you ate got incorporated into your present body, then one day, you’ll die and the ground will absorb you and reintroduce your cells to another body, through some other channel or mechanism. So sure, we’ve all lived countless times before.

Anunnaki 9/24/2014 - 8:42 pm

I guess if there is reincarnation then suicide is just re rolling life until we get something better.

I have heard of two different outcomes for the spirit of the suicide. One version is that the soul of the suicide joins other suicide souls until we can find the desire to be re-born (re-accepting the life we spurned). Second version is that the suicide is the first soul to be re-born because the suicide interrupted needed learning experiences … however this last version also says that we can be re-born many times to learn specific lessons, the harder the life the more we are learning … apparently. I too believe in the zodiac, the most interesting thing I learned was to look at the similarities between the charts of my mum, dad and me because my parents had unfinished stuff which got passed on to me (well, some passed on to me, some issues went on to my sister, we’re sharing the burdens!). I think it helps to know background stuff like that because you can find some focus on what you really need to do in this otherwise purposeless lifetime. It always bothered me that I couldn’t hold on to a job due to depression, but looking at the Zodiac, I found that holding a job isn’t that important in this lifetime (other than what I can earn to keep the electricity on, of course) it is more important for me to learn communication (my father’s zodiac influence on me) and learn to ride with the depression (my mother’s zodiac influence on me).

God, why can’t you people be aroubd when I’m around since I been asking around about this kind of thing? 🙁

Anyways, I sort of believe in the zodiac as far as personality goes and find it interesting and I’ve heard of the old soul thing but never connected. :O

I’m a July Cancer so I guess I’m in the middle, with a slight preference to more adult stuff. :p

WanderingDreamer91 7/31/2018 - 5:35 pm

Oh yeah, and I’m not sure if I would mind starting over, I’m not sure what you mean by the wisdom we learn and there’s a difference between spiritually and regular wisdom or something, but like…

Ir would be nice to leave all my dark experiences behind and live in a happier world where I can be more properly empathetic…
