Depression is not something easily understood. It drains the life out of you. You just fall and can’t get up. It requires so much for you to stand up, specially by yourself. People can lend you a hand but it’s just that they’re out of your reach. Depression is not funny or cute. It is something that consumes you. It takes over you and you feel like you’ve lost control.
Anxiety is not something you can understand just by learning about it. It is something that you have to experience in order to understand. It is fear. It prevents you from doings things. Making friends. Giving a presentation. Going out. Ordering at a restaurant or on the phone. It stops you from living.
Pain is such a powerful feeling. It is so hard to describe. Most people keep it to themselves because they’re hurting a lot. They lost a loved one. Broke up with someone they love. Really low self-esteem. Depression. Self-harm. All of these break you. Make you hurt. Make you feel lost.
Self-harm is not a joke. It is not funny. It is something so serious. People do it because it makes them feel alive. It helps them with the pain. It is addicting. Once you start you just want to keep doing it because it feels good. Because it’s a way out or at least they think it is.
People can’t seem to understand any of these. They think it’s funny. Or that it’s just a phase. People judge because they don’t understand them. They’re scared. They don’t know anything. They shouldn’t judge us without knowing why we are the way we are. But how could they know? They don’t care about us.
