Assisted suicide

by NiDDA

I had a conversation today that inspired this post.

Imagine the sick people who need organs to survive, they WANT to survive, they WANT to LIVE. If they had a method, I mean doctors, to kill patients without damaging the needed body parts or organs, they could give them to the sick, they could give them their desired LIFE. Instead of this they let people die from hanging, ODing etc. MISERABLY and MEANINGLESSLY. I know that there are certain states of mind when some can’t tell the difference between reality and their own imagination, but then leave those out of this chance. There are a shitload of tests to tell if somebody realizes the reality or not, run those freakin tests, and allow those to die who pass them.

Why can’t doctors design and ALLOW a way to do this?

Why do they talk about ethics when it comes to euthanasia?

Why can only the terminally ill have euthanasia? Why mental illness does NOT count as a real illness?

Fuck ethics.

Is it ethic to let someone die who wants to live instead of not to let someone die who wants to die?
Is it ethic for someone to decide on another people’s life?
Is it ethic to make someone live a miserable life instead of making someone to live a desired life?

It pisses me off so badly.

I don’t want to live my life, I don’t want to live anymore, why can’t I go out of this life with dignity?

The State of Washington and Oregon are both Right to Die states. And when your terminally Ill you can Ask. after trying all other Medical efforts. Does not apply to Depression.

It’s a really good idea. It would of course seem morbid and awful to people who are not depressed, but to those of us who are depressed, it a way out. We wouldn’t just commit suicide and die. We would help someone who wanted to live but couldn’t.

The problem is that if a person never experienced a mental illness, will never understand our situation. I’m not saying that depressed people should decide on this, but I think it is really a thing to consider.

The problem with that is that there’s also the fact that people with mental illness do get better. Imagine the amount of heat a politician would get in a situation like that… yeah, you allowed a person with a mental illness to take their own life, and there was a chance that they’d get better and function completely normal if given a bit more time. No one would want to take that heat, and… well, mental illnesses diagnose is so subjective too that it makes it all the more difficult.

In my perfect assisted suicide allowed world everybody would get a month to think if suicide really is thing they want to do.

NiDDA, I have been thinking about this myself and it ticks me off too. No, unless you have a Mental Illness one does not understand. I agree with you totally. And the research clearly shows that Mental Illnesses do cause a less quality of life. It is said by some that there is so much treatment available so why give us that option to die?????? But yet, no treatment is a guatentee & one can go for years and still not find anything to help them. Depending on the severity of the illness, you can have severe symptoms on working meds. It helps only for a time, & few states even make a B grade in Mental Health funding. Most are C’s and D’s. As such treatment a lot of times, cannot be had for those who need it most anyway. These are but a few facts that those who push for us to live don’t understand. I would love to die so someone who actually wanted to live can do so, Sadly, we happen to be in the minority, And yeah, do to people not understanding us, the politician who agreed with us would take unimaginable heat. More education is needed for sure!!!!!! 🙂

Yeah, but this treatment isn’t an injections, isn’t a surgery, isn’t a medicine. This treatment requires the patient to work as well. But what if the patient has had just enough?
I don’t care about a politician’s heat, who the fuck cares about my and others heat?

As far as I know, Belgium allowed the assisted suicide of a very depressed young woman.

Another thing I figure you could do is engineer a preview of death. E.g. like a trailer on YouTube that is just 100% black and silent for the duration. So that people could make their decision on an informed basis. “Oh. That’s death then. Cool. Not that great. I mean, it looks okay. I might wait a bit to actually try it.”
