Wintergirl 5/28/2016 - 6:26 pm

Sounds good too. Enjoy your day/evening. I don’t remember where you live.

gkks 5/28/2016 - 6:32 pm

Thanks winter. It’s after midnight here. Once again i can’t sleep. I don’t remember where you live either.

Wintergirl 5/28/2016 - 6:44 pm

I live in the US, Eastern Standard Time. Midwest.

nepheliad 5/28/2016 - 6:30 pm

Yes, it is FINALLY summer in the central East. Hurray!

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 6:39 pm

Grilling thick juciey hamburgers, with cheese and bacon, on fresh kaiser rolls, and drinking vodka, and coffee, a full wide awake drunk! this is the life!!!! 🙂

Wintergirl 5/28/2016 - 6:44 pm

Hell yeah. Enjoy Rocketman.

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 6:48 pm

Wintergirl, Thank you and you too! life can’t be all crap! that’s like cheese burger’s and no fries!! where’s the fucking fries!!! you have to make them! 🙂

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 6:50 pm

Wait, did you just compare cheeseburgers to crap?

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 6:53 pm

I guess this has been good grilling weather.

Summery and hot with a little bit of a breeze.

I never get to grill things, since (1) I don’t own a grill, and (2) I couldn’t stand up long enough to use one anyway.

But I will gladly live vicariously through you.
Where are the chips?

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 6:58 pm

Cordless, that was a misunderstanding! cheese burgers are beautiful! kind of remind me of you!! the point i was making was, with all the crap we endure in life it’s up to us to make some nice things happen so it isn’t all crap! we have the power to balance the scales.

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 7:04 pm

I’m…. like a…. cheeseburger?

Cheesy fattening goodness for less than five dollars….

Give me a moment to think about that. 😮

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 7:05 pm

And yes, to varying degrees we have the power to balance some of the scales at least partway.

I want pepper jack cheese on my burger, and maybe some jalapenos and sriracha.

And pepper bacon.

Wintergirl 5/28/2016 - 7:37 pm

I’ve got pepper jack cheese in the fridge. Love me some cheese. I actually have a whole crisper drawer for cheese.

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 7:39 pm

I love habanero jack and Vermont white cheddar.

Also the Michigan sharp cheeses like Pinconning and Frankenmuth.

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 7:12 pm

Cordless, I’m sorry sweetie! 🙁 i wish we were close to each other, i’d BBQ and you could just watch me a master at work! and bring you that cheese burger and say what would you like to have to drink and bring that to you too! there is nothing more rewarding then helping another be happy, it’s better to give than receive, remember you give in your own way, i’d i’d gladly accept what you had to give. probably better than my cheese burger! it’s a win win!!! 🙂

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 7:16 pm

If I remember correctly, you live out in Arizona or something.
It must be “grilling weather” out there all the time.

One of the neat things I put on my new tablet is Google Earth.
It lets me explore the whole planet, zooming in on spots I could never visit in real life.

A couple days ago, I decided to zoom in on the boondocks of Arizona, just to see if I could find a cactus.
Holy crap.
It seemed like most of the state really is desert-like, with LOTS of cactus.
Seriously, I could zoom in close enough to see lots of saguaro cactus.

Really neat.

Sadly I did not find you anywhere there.

Wintergirl 5/28/2016 - 7:23 pm

Google Earth is so cool. I use that and Google Street view for fun occasionally. It’s funny because the street view of my house shows someone out in the driveway and my old car too..

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 7:24 pm

I never realized how crooked my driveway really is until I saw it on Google Earth. 🙂

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 7:58 pm

Cordless, I’m there alright! and i see all the cactus your talking about, i live about 1/2 hr to phoenix, between where i live is nothing but desert to California about a 4 hr drive, i moved here 12 years ago , and they are building like crazy! i have everything here, big markets, fast food, old town atmosphere, it takes me 8 minutes to get to work, i come home for lunch everyday, there is no graffiti on the walls, there is no traffic jams, it’s really nice! and i like to gamble, there is 6 casinos within in 1/2 hr to an hr, i live a very good life, no drama, but i am a Rocketman! it was hard to adjust! i use to live life in the fast lane, moving here probably saved my life, but you see it’s not me, i’m a entertainer, a singer!, when i moved here i basically threw in the towel, all business, financially a smart move, but it killed me inside, thoughts of suicide raced through my head, but! i’m turning about face, and preparing to go back into entertainment again. it’s been a long bumpy road, but i’m so close i can taste it, i hope i make it! it won’t be for the lack of trying, nature might not agree with my plans, oh well! i can’t control everything i can only fight and try. that’s what’s keeping me alive, can i do it? if nature doesn’t fuck with me i know i can. i already know what i have to do.

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 8:00 pm

My drive way car hold 12 car’s easily ha ha! the best part of the house!

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 8:39 pm

No traffic jams, no pollution…

But on the other hand, I hear the temperatures get up in the 110’s out there.

Morris 5/28/2016 - 9:43 pm

I was introduced to Google Earth by a guy who wanted to show me Area 51 in the Nevada desert.
It’s fascinating how built up Area 51 is considering it’s location (very remote). Guards are authorized to use deadly force against unauthorized trespassers, (that’s not a m*thod suggestion), so it makes me wonder what’s happening in secret there.

I’m not a full blown conspiracy theorist, but Area 51 would be a great place to reverse engineer downed extraterrestrial travelcraft, and conduct tests on ultra high-tech military aircraft clandestinely. You can find Area 51 on Google Earth, but the picture won’t show you where they’re hiding the aliens.

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 5:32 pm

Cordless, yep it does even higher!! very hard to cope with, but it gets easier every year, the rest of time it’s like summer all year, no winter, pretty nice. if you have air it’s all good!! 🙂

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 7:14 pm

Cordless, anything you want! your wish would be my command, spoiling each other is what makes life wonderful.

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 7:26 pm

@rocketman: Awww. How nice!

Well, my wish today is for you to have a nice day with whatever quantity of vodka you want…. and write a poem that uses the word “cactus”.

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 8:02 pm

rocketman 5/28/2016 - 8:27 pm

Cactus, I am a cactus, wanting for nothing sitting in the sunshine and just growing.
As the years go by, I get bigger, and have flowers that bloom, that’s when it’s my time to shine!
Hey look at me! I’m blooming! you thought i wouldn’t do anything! but look at me!
i’m blooming! you can see the colors flowers! you can see this is what i’ve been waiting for!
i bloom for you! because that’s what’s makes me different i’m a cactus a symbol of hope! to let you know that you can bloom too!

i hope this is OK? right off the fly. 🙂

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 8:38 pm

Now Elton John needs to set that to music.

Although I can never figure out if the “RocketMan” is a reference to the Elton John song or the Def Leppard song.
One of the verses mentions “Rocket Man”.

I am a big Def Leppard fan.

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 3:27 am

i’m up here burning out my fuse alone. 🙂

Cordless 5/29/2016 - 12:58 pm

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 1:53 pm

This is the meaning,
“I’m burning out his fuse up here alone” – Rocketing through space on stage.

life is hard for musicians, everyone envies them but the shine wheres off when you do it for a living, you don’t have a stable life with family, your alone a lot, however anyone can be a rocketman, in way or another, i use to be a rocketman when i played in my bands, but even after i made a career choice which was going into the business world, “it paid the bills better!! ” i still live the life style in a way, that’s why i’m a rocketman, i think some people were just meant to be one.

yeah, David Bowie song may have something to do with, song’s writers tend to follow success when they write.

Bob Segers ,Turn the page , I believe was and off spring of rocketman, although he probably wouldn’t admit it.

The Rolling Stones , Start me up and Queens Don’t stop me now, are on the same lines both came out kind of close together.

The Rolling Stones She’s so hot and She’s so cold, even writers follow their own success 🙂

i modeled by whole group after the Rolling Stones, to follow success. I was right their still going, and that was 40 years ago when i started! the best band i had was name was HOT ROX. i changed it from HOT ROCKS, I THOUGHT IT WAS A LITTLE TO OBVIOUS! 🙂

Cordless 5/29/2016 - 2:21 pm

I’m very curious to know what instrument you played.

Did you compose lyrics/music of your own?

In R.E.M. (**pause for moment of silent reverence**), Michael Stipe wrote the lyrics, whereas the music was always written by the other guys in the band.

The nerdy cute bass player (Mike Mills, the one I had/have the sloppy wet crush on) was very good at writing music and awesome bass lines to go with it. He also could play a piano like the best nerdy cute angel ever.
I would guard his Hot Rox any day.

Therefore there is a soft spot in my heart for bass players and piano players.

What kind of music did the band play?
Old Classic Rock? New Wave? Grunge? Heavy Metal? 80’s pop?

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 2:49 pm

Cordless, I was the lead singer front man, play a lot of Stones, modeled myself after Jagger, i played the harp, maracas, tambourine, i also played guitar very limited! mostly for show, i thought i was Jagger!! 🙂 we were a Stones Tribute Group, for a while, we also played, a little of everything, Queen, ZZ Top, Geils Band, I made a good peter Wolf too! 🙂 and just about anything that was popular, finally we started writing originals, punk rock was hot for a while, i wrote a song called YOU MAKE ME SICK!! 🙂 Mostly the song’s were mixed, a little of this a little of that country included, political too! one was about the gulf war, BIG GUNS BLAZING FROM ACROSS THE BAY! STORMING NORMAN IS ON HIS WAY!!!! 🙂 Ha ha! anyways there did come a time when we were offered a recording contract, i turned it down, it wasn’t the best, shortly there after, with all the girls, and drugs, and the rest of business, i feel in love and went straight with a sure thing, my second career, i was very successful at it, now i’m getting ready to retire in a few years and want to go back into entertainment, i can still shake my booty!!! 🙂

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 3:00 pm

fell !!! fucking spell ceek!!!! anyways i got married and things went south, i was traveling the world, doing my job and she had and open check book and like sparkletts water started making friends! oh well! That’s life! I’m not bitter about anything and coming close to the end of the road, i guess i did OK living this long??? 🙂 i probably will die on stage!! i thought i’d die in bed??? 50/50 guess either way i hope with a smile 🙂

Cordless 5/29/2016 - 4:17 pm

Wow, ok then.

When you say you played “harp”, I assume you mean autoharp?
Or could you actually play the Irish Folk Harp that is currently sitting in my living room?
Or the fancy pedal concert harp I had to learn briefly in college?

If only there were videos of you performing on stage!!

Especially if you did a cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
Or J. Geils’ “Angel In The Centerfold”.

I have a mental image of a lot of the people here. Some of my guesses have been really close (ToTrees, and Hazy, for example).

Some of my mental image guesses were waaaaaayyy off. (Alan, for example).

I find it curious that I currently have no clear mental image of you.
Back when I thought you were purposely being mean to me with that comment on my computer-artwork, I sort of pictured you being like those two crotchety old Muppet guys in the balcony.

But now that I’m starting to see you as (probably) a nice decent guy, I have no idea how to picture you.

I would very much like a video of you screaming your head off like Jagger.

nepheliad 5/29/2016 - 5:49 pm

I’ve always pictured Rocketman as looking similar to types like Sean Penn or Viggo Mortensen. Handsome, slim build, chiseled face, etc.

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 6:00 pm

Cordless, i’m not shitting you, i’m a very nice guy, everyone loves me! i always put everyone else in first place, i do every Stone song, And a lot of J. Geils, actually i’m a lot like Peter Wolf, FAR FROM A GROUCH, I’M TO FRIENDLY!! AND TO HAPPY!! Some People can’t stand me, because they can’t figure out way i am that way, i look like i’m in my late 40s, i’m not a sex symbol, but not unattractive either, better looking than Jagger!!!! 🙂 i am in love with the laddies, i kiss them on the cheek when every i can, i can do Billy’s Idols songs like nobody else can. i move when i sing and go as far as the front door. no i’m not a bad guy, the only reason i don’t post anything because it wouldn’t be good for my other career to be on a suicide site. i came here lost and wanting to kill myself years ago, i changed my mind and started to care about myself and set goals, they are working, i guess that’s my message. 🙂

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 6:14 pm

nepheliad, Thank you, i’m small about 5′-8″ and weigh in at a whooping 155 lbs, my face has deep lines, always did. i’m been told i was hansom, i think i’m so ugly i’m appealing 🙂

nepheliad 5/29/2016 - 6:36 pm

@rocketman: Sounds like my ‘mental image’ of you was pretty accurate, then. 🙂

Wintergirl 5/28/2016 - 8:42 pm

Hey good poem Rocketman. Did you have a burger yet? My chicken turned out great, nice and crispy on the outside and lots of bbq sauce. The corn I threw on the grill was good too. Didn’t need any butter or anything.

Cordless 5/28/2016 - 8:47 pm

The chicken sounds amazing.

Hard to imagine corn that doesn’t need butter.
I would probably put butter on it anyway, just to be sure.

Wintergirl 5/28/2016 - 8:59 pm

It was really sweet. I’m sure it would have been even better with butter and salt and pepper but I was hungry and it was good enough as is for me. This sudden surge of heat and humidity has zapped my appetite this week. I finally was hungry enough to eat decently yesterday. Guess that’s a good thing. Sometimes I don’t mind not eating much. I definitely eat a lot less in the summer.

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 2:22 pm

Wintergirl, yes it did thank you! and thanks to you now i want chicken!!! EERRROOWW!!! 🙂

Cordless 5/29/2016 - 4:20 pm

If it goes “EERRROOWW”, it’s probably a cat.

I’m not sure if they taste like chicken.

Wintergirl 5/29/2016 - 6:10 pm

Well tonight we are having burgers over here at some point. I am not cooking though. I think I’m a little sick from the heat today, which is funny because it’s a bit cooler today and lower humidity too. It’s probably a little dehydration so I’m sipping on some ice water before I have anymore beer tonight. I haven’t even had much today. But not enough water and the heat will mess you up, it does me. I don’t think I could stand Arizona, waaaay to hot for me. I don’t know how you do it.

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 6:28 pm

Wintergirl, it’s hard sometimes! i’d rather live somewhere else at times! but it’s layed back here, no traffic, and air conditioning is everywhere, Tonight i’m making pork fried rice! and vanilla and fudge ice cream, a lot of coffee, and a shot of vodka every now and then, i’ll probably do some kind of TV show marathon, or hang out on here with you guys, just taking it easy, i’m like all the rest, i get depressed, but then i realize life isn’t a big party, so i just do the things i enjoy and relax.

PhantomCitizen43 5/29/2016 - 1:19 am

I went over to the bar across from my street tonight and had six glasses of Budweiser draft beers. I was a bit lit. then I pedaled home on my bicycle and wound up falling asleep not to long after I got home. It was early. about 8 Pm when I went to bed, now I woke up at 1 AM and I am just getting online to have a look around. I should probably cut down on the beer drinking. lol

Cordless 5/29/2016 - 1:22 am

Yay for being able to ride a bike after 6 beers. (!!)

rocketman 5/29/2016 - 5:25 pm

Cordless, EEERROOWW! IS ME!! I’m a beast!!! 🙂

Cordless 5/29/2016 - 8:57 pm

For a tiny little moment there, I almost asked if you tasted like chicken.

Then my inner Cordless gasped and whispered “Wait! STOP….”
