I have no idea what to call this

by Cordless

Those of you who saw my “Sushi-In-A-Desert” picture may have noticed this in the comments:

At some point on Sunday evening, I realized I couldn’t resist.

Samurai eating pizza in a bowling alley with an ancient Greek priestess.

Before someone asks:

Q: What are the words in the background?
A: The Japanese and Greek words for pizza.

Q: What was the hardest thing to draw?
A: OMG. Bowling Pins. In real life they all look the same. Here? Ha ha hahahaha.

Q: The way they speared the slices of pizza… isn’t that stealing intellectual property from the Little Caesar’s logo?
A: Only if I profit from it, which is highly unlikely.

Q: What is the average air velocity of an unladen swallow?
A: Would that be an African or European swallow?

(Bonus points if you got the Monty Python reference).

It’s amazing you found the word pizza both in Greek and Japanese. And the drawing is really cool.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 5:05 pm

I’d love to claim that I am a genius who knows both languages, but the truth is I found an online translator.

gkks 5/17/2016 - 5:11 pm

They are both really hard languages to learn.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 5:28 pm

I think so too.

I took two semesters of Russian in college, and it was a challenge to “think” in a non-western alphabet.
The Cyrillic alphabet felt foreign enough; I can only imagine the difficulty of Japanese and Greek.

4beyondhelp 5/17/2016 - 5:24 pm

cool drawing!!

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 5:29 pm

Thank you! πŸ™‚

muspelhem 5/17/2016 - 5:25 pm

This is like The Big Lebowski, only better.

Cool drawing, I dig it! πŸ™‚
Love your sense of hummus, I mean Humor too! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

Talk about hard languages, Greek!
I happen to know a little of both, oddly enough. Let me explain: I worked on cruise ships for some time and we always had greek staff at the helm, so we had to learn some of the basics. Not the writing though; oooh no, never learned that!!!

Japanese? I’m actually on lesson 3 of the Rosetta Stone courses. My daughter has made me promise to learn it and we have friendly contests to see who’s learning it faster.
Her goal is to go to Japan one day (she’s an Asian culture lover) and not have to speak in other language but Japanese. Kudos to her, but I need an aspirin every now and then… πŸ˜›

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 5:40 pm

Right now I’m having a reasonably good time learning German.
Aside from a few letters, it’s mostly the same alphabet I’m used to.

Challenging but fun.

HERE4UOK 5/17/2016 - 5:44 pm

You got that right πŸ™‚
You have any particular plans to put your language skills to use?

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 5:49 pm

I’m too disabled (and poor) to travel overseas, but I do have a friend who is from Germany, so I get to practice my German with her.

It’s hard to get all those vowel sounds to come out right.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 5:52 pm

And the consonants. OMG.
German guttural consonants.

Here, let me hack my way through this ten-syllable word and wipe the spit off nearby objects later.

HERE4UOK 5/17/2016 - 6:06 pm

Hahaha..! XD
Btw Cordless, don’t ever say you can’t do something, ok? πŸ˜‰
Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Do you know who Nick Vujicic is? Surely you do. And if not, here he is: youtube.com/watch?v=AJvEoLPLIg8

You can work from home (as I do), and do a lot of things from the comfort of your [bed, chair, toilet seat (yeah, the possibilities are endless, lol]…

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 6:12 pm

I appreciate the encouragement.

Without going into detail, I have multiple disabilities that preclude even a work-from-home situation.

I had to go to court and fight for it to be acknowledged, but in the end the judge agreed and decided in my favor.

I can do brief short-term jobs like editing someone’s short stories or novels, but the long-term living wage jobs are permanently out of reach.

HERE4UOK 5/17/2016 - 6:24 pm

I’m stepping away for the day, but before I do let me leave you a question: have you thought about writing? You can do it at will. Short stories even, more or less like the Chicken Soup books and eventually compile them.
I have a friend who could even help contacting an editor/publisher.

I enjoyed our conversation today. Have a great rest of your day/evening πŸ™‚

Hey > this is Awesome!
its a funny idea to begin with… and you knocked it out really well.
I like the drawing > its unique and very well done
I have been looking at a lot of folk art recently and this reminds me of that.
I like how cultural it looks. Funny and cultural
keep drawing. your doing a great job

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 6:05 pm

Hey, thank you.
I was hoping you’d get the chance to see this. πŸ™‚

PhantomCitizen43 5/17/2016 - 6:13 pm

I like how you used the whole page > it makes for a nice overall composition and that is something i always look for in a work.
Its a keeper

Oh buy the way my new computer came in today and Its awesome!!

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 6:21 pm

My secret to using up the whole sheet of paper:
Use a really small sheet of paper.

I bought an 88-cent stack of blank memo pads.
Just the right size.
Big sketch pads would feel impossibly overwhelming.

Using a tiny sheet, my brain thinks “No pressure, I’m just doodling. How bad can it be?”

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 7:31 pm

Cordless, I am impressed! you are cleaver! and cunning! you always amaze me. πŸ™‚ kind of a female Rocketman but with brains!!! πŸ™‚ good job!! πŸ™‚

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 7:35 pm

If I was a female rocketman my blood alcohol content would be much higher.

But thank you!

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 7:38 pm

Cordless, if you were a female Rocketman things would really get shook up! the world would be at your mercy.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 7:41 pm

Sort of like being an evil supervillain but with occasional hangovers and a decreased tolerance for spicy food.

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 7:49 pm

Cordless, kind of? Rocketman is a hero not evil, a drunken hero, my RL record proves it, i’m a lot of things but evil is not one of them. πŸ™‚

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 7:54 pm

No, the villain part is ME.
I dream about that sort of thing.
A little chaos is good for the soul.

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 7:51 pm

Cordless, i go after the bad guys.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 7:55 pm

Try to look the other way when I set up my evil galactic empire.

The spicy food will be amazing.

Hazy Day Sunflower 5/17/2016 - 7:51 pm

This is absolutely hilarious I love it.

Would you like me to color it in? Kind of like “Adult Coloring Books” for the weird and unique.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 7:56 pm

Surprise me.

mysteriousvisitor 5/17/2016 - 9:04 pm

I am looking forward to seeing that! While I don’t have your artistic talent Hazy and Cordless, I think I will print out an extra copy of this to color with colored pencils.

Hazy Day Sunflower 5/17/2016 - 9:24 pm

Yes this is perfect for adult coloring hour.

We are way hipper then those hipsters out there. They just purchase the coloring books, we actually come up with subject matter and ink them ourselves.

Take that mustache hat toting hipsters!

Hazy Day Sunflower 5/17/2016 - 9:25 pm

Of course you will be obligated to post it. Because what is adult coloring hour without show and tell.

(no not THAT show and tell…) shesh.

mysteriousvisitor 5/17/2016 - 9:30 pm

It will probably be several days. During the work week I don’t feel like doing very much in the evenings.

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 7:59 pm

Hazy Day Sunflower, ha ha! i’m glad your up and running! OK I am a man and i do like the opposite sex, sue me πŸ™‚ But i have done things to help humanity put my ass and career on the line on several occasions, and lost a few times, got punished for it! but i wouldn’t change a thing, i can sleep comfortably when i pull the sheets over my toes, yes i’m not a priest i’m not a monk but a man with a good heart.

Hazy Day Sunflower 5/17/2016 - 8:04 pm

When in doubt you leap. No other way to live IMHO.

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 8:11 pm

Hazy Day Sunflower, I do think a bit before leaping πŸ™‚ but i do leap! action is the only way to come face to face with issues, whether you win or lose.

mysteriousvisitor 5/17/2016 - 8:53 pm

??????????!!! (supposedly that says arigatou gozaimasu. I hope it’s correct).

This is awesome!! I’ve been so busy and tired that I haven’t logged on in a couple of days; I’m glad I just happened to do so, or I might have missed this.

mysteriousvisitor 5/17/2016 - 8:54 pm

Well, I see my attempt at copying and pasting Japanese letters didn’t work. LOL

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 9:23 pm

Actually it still works, since the question marks and exclamation points would be what went through my mind either way

mysteriousvisitor 5/17/2016 - 8:56 pm

And kudos for the Monty Python reference!

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 9:26 pm

This makes me want to watch holy grail tonight.
I must.

mysteriousvisitor 5/17/2016 - 9:33 pm

What is your favorite color?

PhantomCitizen43 5/17/2016 - 8:57 pm

when in doubt > call it > Batshit Crazy!!

Hazy Day Sunflower 5/17/2016 - 9:00 pm

Did someone call my name?

PhantomCitizen43 5/17/2016 - 9:45 pm

Yeah I like that.
You coined the phrase.
I like it.

Batshit crazy

I also like the phrase “Shitstorm”

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 9:04 pm

So it would be a self-titled work, then….

I think maybe my whole series could be called that.

When my art is evaluated posthumously, the critics can say “ahhhh, yes; this piece is from her ‘batshit crazy’ period…”

Which will make the price go up to 50 cents instead of 40.

Hazy Day Sunflower 5/17/2016 - 9:22 pm

61 cents. You are way under estimating the batshit crazy mark up.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 9:28 pm

Well… I guess it worked for Van Gogh.

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 9:36 pm

i have a storm cutting the power every couple minutes

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 9:40 pm

My evil plan is working!

PhantomCitizen43 5/17/2016 - 9:47 pm

Cordless is behind all the power outages. AHHHHH!!!!!

I am lucky my new computer gets 6 hours of battery time.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 9:51 pm

My tablet has about 20% battery left.

If I could figure out a fun evil supervillain way to suck out your battery power, I would.

That sounded vaguely bad somehow.

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 9:44 pm

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 9:48 pm

Hee hee!

Though I guess real supervillains have maniacal laughter instead of girly giggles.

Cordless 5/17/2016 - 9:53 pm

I promise to work on that.

rocketman 5/17/2016 - 9:54 pm

Cordless, Yes they do! Now i’m at your mercy!!! foregiveifth me oh great supervillain. i know when i’ve been beaten down. in other words would you please stop cutting out the power please πŸ™‚

Hazy Day Sunflower 5/17/2016 - 10:15 pm

done biiiiiiiiooooooches!

darkwillow 5/17/2016 - 11:24 pm

Haha oh Chordful πŸ™‚

Cordless 5/18/2016 - 1:07 am

Wintergirl 5/18/2016 - 12:00 am

Love your drawing and Hazy’s colored in version.

Cordless 5/18/2016 - 1:08 am

It was fun, once I figured out how I wanted everything arranged.

HERE4UOK 5/18/2016 - 8:11 pm

You know, for some reason, your profile pic reminds me of Sylwia, the “Girl with Pink Hair” in Sala SamobΓ³jcΓ³w… πŸ™‚
