So as some of the more active people on here know, we usually hang out at a website called Wavelength, where we can chat and listen/share music together. It’s pretty good, but I’ve noticed a lot of flaws and or missing features in it. If this becomes a more regular hang out place for us SPers. I want to make something better for us. A place for only us. Think of it as a 3rd party addition to SP where we can all hangout when we are feeling lonely or sad. It will by not means replace SP. SP is great for sharing your stories or asking questions and getting input. But it’s pretty terrible at making us feel connected. So this is where the idea for SP Hangout comes from. A sub-platform of SP where we can hangout and enjoy music. Built around us. I am very confident I can make a better platform from Wavelength, from scratch all by myself. I would need to work with the owner of SP if they would agree to kind of unify the two. Such as use SP login to use SP Hangout or like a status on the side of SP that shows how many people are hanging out. Anyway it’s just an idea. And I am interested in how many of us would like something like this. It’s a pretty big project for me to take on. I would even need to code my own websocket server for this if we really want a robust platform. Here is a first mock up:
I’m open to any ideas 🙂

I think it’s a great idea. I dont own a computer so it is even trickier trying to connect but something I was thinking was how much better SP would be if it had chat forums with the options of public/ open, groups and private I think a lot of us would benefit from that. I’m glad someone has the ability and potential to organise something like this would appreciate it very much, I wish you the best of luck.
Well I concluded to just have a global room. No sub rooms or groups as that would make people feel left out. So it would just be a common space. What I want to do is improve the chat system, so you can mention a user and it would be easier for them to see your reply in chat. You just gave me an idea for private messaging features. But I’m not sure about it. Wavelength also seems to have terrible browser support. If I get to building this. I would make sure it works on all latest versions of different browsers and even mobile browsers if possible. Thank you for the luck. I’ll keep scrubbing my head on this 🙂
I like the idea, let me know when it is added in
This is sooo… COOL!
Even in the brief time the Wavelength’s been going it seems like a good platform for people to come and chill out or vent. I’ve certainly enjoyed my couple of visits! You’ve managed to bring people that are otherwise often lonely/troubled and given them some respite.
This is awesome and I wish you the best of luck if you decide to make it, wish there was some was I could contribute!
