So do you guys believe in anything after death? If so, what and why? Like, what ‘proof’ I guess do you have that it exists or explain why you believe that is where we go.
winterofdead, IMO, I’ve been around long enough to understand what’s going on here.
First there is no life after death, actually it’s laughable, when something die’s it is dead. your brain is you, when the brain die’s so do you.
Second all this hocus pocus we humans come up with like our spirits leave our body and travel to another place and live there HA HA! It also is laughable, what great imaginations we have.
We are a life form species along with everything else on this planet including cock roaches, we are predators just like all other life forms on this planet.
The conditions on this planet which make it possible for a living species like us to grow and evolve is very unusual like hitting the lotto in the universe, but it happened so here we are, eventually this planet will die and so will we as a race.
People just can’t comprehend that we have no purpose for existing other than we can and we have no significant reason to exist other we can. one day it will be WE CAN’T.
I couldn’t agree more. People are so creative. This spiritual thing was acceptable in the past, but now it is ridiculous. No one never proved the existence of afterlife, spirits or god.
Creativity can keep you going when in dire need to express something.
Death happens.
Nobody REALLY knows what it is. we can make educated guesses at best. Or chose to believe what we want. Does it matter either way in the end? Probably not. Does it matter to you now? If you’re curious enough to wonder then hold on to life. Just keep searching. Keep wondering.
I seriously disagree. First off.. we no nothing (scientific wise) and we actually have had many instances of proof of spirit and religion. Have you ever seen a medium touch someone so deep even non believers, to were it’d be impossible to have guessed what they were saying to them. Besides that, demonic possession and spirits caught on camera. Also reincarnation story’s that go into so much detail about the dead person those people envision. I guess that’s just coincidental moment? Then proof is already there your juse turning it down in your own stubborn bliss. I’m just saying.. I apologize if I sound a little mean. But like how can you believe we are just a figment of science and evolution when we as humans literally changed the entire world. If you want to believe you have no soul well to me that’s beyond hopeless. We are special. The way existence, matter, the cosmos was mapped out is far too coincidental to be some amazing natural event. All physicist agree it’s a very oddly situation that if things were off by the slightest degree. For instance, how are universe expands or how are planet and the planets around us move.. than things wouldn’t have worked. It gets deeper than the fact that we are born to die and are not born perfect. Nature’s disasters is a part of life god created. Just had to butt in and say my part. As far as what I believe? We are here to learn and enjoy this thing called life god gave us. It gets so hard, there may feel like there is no god. Perhaps thats part of the lesson we are supposed to learn being here. A lesson of faith and self courage. When we die, it’s definitely not over. God wouldn’t waste are time. God wants to understand what you understand. To see what you think. Perhaps we are all even the same person living as many. Perhaps time in afterlife is completely irrelevant. Idk the full answer or even a part of it. But I’m not blind to some of the proof of whatever it is it’s soemthing. Question… how can you be suicidal and expect nothing after this? What would be the point to it all?
I personally don’t believe in an afterlife, not one in which we’re cognizant in any way at least. You may be an exception, but I’ve never met a person who wanted to die because they thought they’d go to heaven (and heaven is great, right?) If that were the case, people would kill themselves left and right to go to this magical wonderful place!
Those who do believe in such an afterlife tend to believe that suicide revokes your ticket in those pearly gates. So I can’t say I understand your question of “what’s the point of suicide if there’s nothing after?”
My personal point is that “nothing” would be better than this “something”.
As far as what I believe though, I think we have what I like to call a “scientific soul” – that we are not just brains, we are energy, functioning in a way similar to light (photons). “Ghosts” would be residual energy manifesting itself back into its familiar form (the person’s body, or part of it). “Mediums” would be able to discern and interpret this energy far more skillfully than the average person. “Demonic possession” would be a powerful “ghost” attempting to override a living person’s energy… You get the point.
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
When you close your eyes, does the world cease to exist?
I think we go back to where we were before we were born. Which is to say, probably we’ll get reconstituted inside a stellar mass at some point in the distant future, then get dispersed back into the cosmos once that star explodes.

^ maybe THIS.
I hate it when people say the word “prove” in these contexts. Every proof is based off assumptions. And the most basic assumption of any proof is:
1) Sensory perception = reality.
How can anyone prove or disprove anything about a state when your sensory perceptions are gone (ie death)? It’s ridiculous.
Religion and beliefs are felt, not proven. And they will stay that way forever, just by the argument I have given above.
Reincarnation.
