Id be less crazy if people would stop lying to me. I was trained professionally to read faces, had to do it for a living, so i know when some1 is feedin me bs. The funny thing is they think i buy that ish, n its like no, i just now know i need to watch what i say or do around u.
I was a correction officer. It was part of my job to read body language and read the inmates in case anything went down because i had to document word for word n move by move everything they did. When a person lies the eyes give it away, they unknowingly raise their eyebrows, eyes widen, usually stop blinking, voice raises, they get defensive, nostrils flare alil, sometimes theres a twitch by the mouth.
1- wish I could take a workshop on lying / how to tell. people lie too much and i don’t like getting used/manipulated/misled/screwed.
2- damn, you’re hard core. I can’t imagine that being an easy job for a gal.
Its def not an easy occupation for women, i was harrassed daily by captains, lts n sgts. The inmates never tested my strength cuz i had good repore but my staff were aholes esp during my 16hr shifts. Theyd sit at the computer while i managed 250 inmates by myself
Yup the inmates were well behaved cuz they witnessed the bs the senior staff were puttin me through. But my facility was infamous for running good officers out so i put up with it but left there in april cuz it got too be too much
Interesting question: I would have never gotten married, I would have never bought the previous two homes that I’ve lived in, I would have never bought extended insurance on anything and we would probably all be rich since the housing bubble of 2017 and the .COM bubble of 2000 would never have happened. I guess Gordon Gekko was wrong…greed ISN’T good.
It’s not just not having to doubt, but not being screwed over, lied to, manipulated, etc. Like doubt is one thing, but the actions/results of lies are another. But yes, I would very much prefer that world to this one, where almost everyone is a scoundrel and gets away with it.
Check out a movie called The Invention of Lying. It’s about a world without lies so everyone believes everything. Then Ricky Gervais discovers how to lie and all hell breaks loose. Pretty hilarious and surprisingly deep.
Politicians couldn’t lie to us, cops couldn’t lie to us, media couldn’t lie to us, people everywhere couldn’t lie. People we know couldn’t lie to us, use us, or manipulate us. That’d be awesome. Damn, wish it was true instead of the lying sh*t show we live in.
Little white lies aren’t so bad. Can you imagine if every single person who dumped you was completely honest about why you were let go? That would hurt like hell and destroy you.
If you knew why you were dumped, you wouldn’t make that mistake again. If you weren’t told the truth and it kept happening again with other people, I think it’s far worse. I’d rather not make the same mistake or not know why I was being dumped. But that’s me.
Funny this subject was brought up because I did have to lie a little to my boyfriend just now on the phone. I’m in a position where I have to keep his spirits up. I couldn’t just say “Hey, I feel like a miserable piece of shit today and I don’t know how long I can keep this whole life thing going.”
So sometimes little lies are necessary, in my case anyway.
If nobody ever told another lie society would collapse. Sales people, politicians, preachers and lawyers would all be out of a job
Wives, husband’s, girlfriends and boyfriend’s all over the world would break up.
“Honey, do these jeans make me look fat”?
“Yes they do. You should probably wear something else”.
“Babe, how was breakfast”?
“Mediocre at best. You burned the toast, the eggs were watery, and you kept talking about that co-worker you hate the entire time I was eating”.
“Do you like the Christmas gift I bought you”?
“No. Did you save the receipt? I’d rather have the cash”.
Lies are much better than honesty in many situations.
LOL That is so true. And family/friends would really tell each other the truth of what they think about each other.
“I think you’re an egotistical insecure know-it-all that has to be right about everything and if I have to spend one more moment around your ass I think I’m going to kill you or myself.”
Expressing unkind things about other people says more about you than it does about them. It means YOU are insecure and can’t accept your own flaws, so you attack other people instead, because apparently, for a lot of “unenlightened” people, that’s easier than dealing with their own issues.
I don’t like “lies,” but there are ways to be honest without being mean, petty, judgmental, or causing a defensive and upset reaction. Assess the situation and the person, and use your common sense.
I’m assessing the situation now to be that you’re a presumptuous asshole. Who the fuck are you to presume my family life and ex-friends.
I wasn’t speaking of Morris above if that’s what you presumed.
And many people are impossible to reason with hence it’s ok to tell them to fuck off. They just don’t let up on you so they deserve it.
People like you are the reason I’m leaving this site YOU insecure know-it-all.
FUCK OFF AND GOODBYE.
Everything needs balance. You can’t appreciate honesty if there is no such thing as dishonesty. Hot:Cold. Dark:Light. Pain:Pleasure: Life:Death. Happy:Sad. Neither could truly exist without the other.
Now if all of the sudden people couldn’t lie Anymore…I’d think there would be a period of Chaos until eventually there ended up a smaller, quieter and less technologically evolved population.

ooh, what was your profession? and any tips on how to tell? 😛

so the inmates were better than your male coworkers and superiors? oy :/
bet you wished you coulda lock some of them up

how many female staff were there, vs male?
I’m sure you’ve heard of Sam Bailey, but if not, this is pretty cool. Watch the interview youtube. com/watch?v=mCylXy-IRGU

Greed is only good for the victor. For everyone else, we lose.
I think that kind of world would be close to a paradise. Imagine never having to doubt anyone ever again.

Interesting. Might have to check it out. So even in a movie, honesty doesn’t last for long eh?

I’d rather the truth. I think eliminating all lies > letting evil scumbags lie and getting away with stuff just so we can have some little white lies.
Besides, life as it is now is already hurting like hell and I’m already destroyed so…
Yep, that’s a good point. I’m already destroyed anyway too. The truth would hurt like hell, but it would be better in the long run I suppose…

There is a movie about this
It is called the invention of lying
It stars Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner
Truth is better than a lie any day. Lies just waste my time, they cause me to question said person etc. more. Truth hurts, but lies hurt even more.
