I’ve been struggling with some kind of anxiety/depression for a while now, and it’s just so confusing. Also on top of trying to balance my mental state and school, I’m also dealing with a friend who is putting himself into loads of dangerous scenarios and I’m so scared I’m going to lose him. I love him so much (as a friend) and I can’t imagine what I would do without him. I’m absolutely terrified he will do something stupid or kill himself
Also personally, I’m really unsure of what is wrong with me. I can feel happy and cheerful sometimes, then other times I just want to die. There is usually a time in between where I don’t want to exist, but at the same time I don’t want to die because I don’t want to effect the people who surround me.
I’m so confused and I just need someone to confide in, even if it’s just a website and no one listens

Have you told your friend how much you care? Maybe talk to them about their feelings and yours.
It’s always hard with others involves because they have their own issues and they will also make choices that are best suited for them. If their decisions affect us profoundly and negatively we can usually only choose to disconnect ourselves one way or another. I’m not exactly saying to stop being his friend but rather find a way to accept that this might be what he wants ultimately.
It doesn’t sound like there is anything “wrong with you.” You may just be experiencing depression and anxiety like you said. The problem is that there isn’t a quick fix for it or a magic pill that will make everything rosey. We have to learn to deal with life and with our own feelings and thoughts, develop coping methods so that we can continue living and pursue the things that make us feel good. WE have to come up with a compromise because not everything will be good but we don’t want to sink into the bad and stay there either. I definitely second what flutterby is saying about talking to your friend and letting them know you love them and that you are worried about them. Sounds like you both hurt. maybe learn to lean on each other or find other resources to rely on.
