Imagine living in a world where you can go to the doctors & tell them that you’re depressed & would just want to die because you’ve suffered enough & he have you two options , First option will be take medications for you to feel better or Take the second option which will be giving you A pill tht can definitely kill you.

That day will definitely come so long as religion is removed from our government/politics. We have it legal in Canada now-but it’s for terminal illness. However, I have heard they make some exceptions for people who are suffering (someone went blind and was permitted to be euthanized).
In some European countries like Holland, it is much more liberalized so it’s offered to almost anyone that wants it. If religion never existed we’d already have had it now.
There is no good reason in the world to force anyone to keep living a life of pain, misery, and suffering. Unlike animals who can’t talk, we know when they are in pain and we do the humane then and put them down. Within a few minutes, they’re forever released from their torment.
Humans can actually talk and tell you that they’re suffering and yet we just ignore it or give them meds or blank stares like we don’t know what they mean. No one should ever have to resort to dangerous, violent means (like guns, hanging, etc) to end their existence.
I think ultimately what’s needed is that politicians, lawyers need to push the gov’t for full legalization. It’ll take money and lots of pressure to make it legal. But once it happens, then everyone who comes after us will have a much easier time ending their life when they want to.
*humane thing
Yes.. Assisted suicide in Oregon is a wonderful thing. I mean it is hard to kill yourself, I have been trying for nothing other for years upon years…
Not always granted but worth fighting for you have to be a resident I believe..
There are always more than two options, especially on the “don’t kill yourself” side of the equation. Start by treating yourself to something you enjoyed in the past, or taking a vacation somewhere new, or finding a new job, or moving, etc. It’s infinite and open-ended. You could spend a lifetime finding new things to enjoy and never run out of novelty; it’s been impossible since Shakespeare for one person to read the whole English canon.
On the other hand, there are only several ways to kill yourself without much pain, all of them final. These include inert gas hypoxia, opiates and fast-acting barbituates, suspension hanging, potassium chloride poisoning, and hypothermia.
I do hear what you’re saying and with there was no stigma. If people could just accept that being bored to death is a real risk in modern society, and let others go according to their rational desires, that would be nice. At least it would be better than the secrecy, paranoia, and self-doubt that forever haunts the survivors.
Would love this. Having the pill, knowing there is an easy way out, would give me so much comfort.
