Has anyone ever tried electroconculsive therapy for depression? I have been on at least 12 medications and nothing works long term. I am now suicidal again and willing to try it.
Please, serious replies only. This could be life or death for me.
i did it once. i felt alright for about a year after the dr completely stopped ect and then the effects later waned off. im now planning on killing myself in about 4 months from now.
it will work for some people and others it will not
@ravingbean I did ect 2 times a week for 4 weeks in the psych hospital and once every 6 weeks out of the hospital for about year.
I stopped because My dr. and i felt it was going on for too long and i my mood was getting better.
Ect cannot control your thoughts. But it may help your mood. It may work on some and not on others. Just like meds may work on some and not on others.
I say do some research about it and the talk to your dr. If you think its right for you.
Anywho, do u live in the u.s or a country with universal health care? Cause it might cost alot if you live in u.s. especially if you have to do a multi session ect
How do you pay for cremation in advance? It sounds like everyone is saying positive things, so you could try it, right? Even if you still commit, it will push you through more days so at least you can have a little more time alive!! I’m sure it’ll be like “going on an adventure.”
@cause-of-death-suicide it’s simple to pay for “death services” in advance. Funeral directors are a bunch of scum and they love to take money. I would prefer to be put through a chipper. Just no embalming. That’s disgusting.
ECT seems to help some people for awhile and then things get worse than before.
I suffered badly from depression for about thirty five years. I then started using 3 supplements and 3 essential oils plus a SAD lamp. It has been the different between daylight and dark for my depression. If you want the details I can give them. No side effects, no relapse.
The three supplements are commonly found in better food stores and any they don’t have are on amazon and ebay.
I use L-5-MTHF (a.k.a. methylfolate), Saint John’s Wort, and fish oil. Be sure to follow directions on bottles. Do not skimp. Do not skip.
The three essential oils are Lemon, Lavender, and Frankincense. Pick reputable brand(s). One drop each, each night (or day if you like) , into a diffuser. Diffusers don’t cost much.
The SAD lamp is used to extend the day from September through about March. The common rating that gets it done is 10, 000 lux.
Allow some time, a few weeks at least, for it to all kick in. Kick in is not the best term for it either. They just gradually smoothed me out. None of this is drugs. Side effects are rare. I have not seen any. Can’t say enough good about it.

I had a electrocution accident by 1520 volts max. which flew from one hand in the other hand out. I felt a bit of it on my neck.
I felt replaced, refreshed and new. But it was an deadly accident that I survived.

@jr did you only have one treatment? Why did you not continue? All I think about is killing my self. It’s exhausting.

US. I was hoping my insurance would cover it. My cremation is already paid for. Thanks for answering.

One more note: stick with it. None of this is a cure. It just giving your body what it needs. I think of it as nutrition, not medicine.
Thank you.
