I think camel cigarettes should also do a commercial depicting why smoking doesn’t make it alright to whistle at woman and men should only smoke while defending women’s rights.
Then Pantene can do one about a hydrating oil that still gives women the oomph they need to be independent because a women should be the work horse in a household.
Also, i read an article today that aliens may have contacted us, so i will be contacting my local politicians about introducing a bill requiring alien restrooms to have male female asexual and omni-dimensional bathrooms funded by camel cigarettes and funded by gillettes new deepspace #metoo movement.
The restrooms will be staffed by sensitivity guards and there will be a 300 yard stupidity radius to encompass the local starbucks, jambajuices and Mcdonalds.
For the love of god Please not the camel cigs 😀 They are my favorite 😀
Don’t take it to heart, they’re just trying to chase the woke millennial market. It’s what good capitalists do. Advertising is all garbage. All of it. ignore it.
Sure, they do it just for money I can understand, not that big of a deal… but the fact that half million people liked that shit is disturbing
People want to believe in a better world. They’ll latch on to any simplistic message about how to get there without giving too much though to the possible adverse consequences of such a message.
We’re all treated like crap for something we didn’t choose. That’s what being human is all about.
“That’s life, that’s what people say, you’re riding high in April, shot down in May.”
That Gillette commercial was literally insane. Hopefully more people will realize.
For years, most years of my life actually (60+), I was cursed with having a dick. Finally, somehow, I got past or beyond, or something, this concept of having dickitus since birth by the mere fact of having one. I am finally ok with having one. Now I can focus more on why it sucked to be me as opposed the mere genetic assignment of being male.
Your post got me thinking and doing some research. Fun factoid: nearly 1% of men are psychopaths, compared to .1% of women. The real point is that about 2/3 of male sufferers stay out of the justice system but wreak havoc as business leaders, sales people, stock traders, and politicians, and God help any woman unfortunate enough to marry one. It is a nasty genetic disorder and makes our sex look really bad. There is hopeful research to suggest their could be effective treatment for it in the future, but for now the assholes will be assholes. Beware: they are very charming in their demeanor but devoid of conscience and empathy.
An even worse fun factoid: For every psychopath out there are reportedly about 4 sociopaths. The sociopath is just about as destructive to humankind as the psychopath but they are, get this, trained to be what they are. Who in their right mind would train someone to be such? Most of these sufferers are male.
Considering now that we can safety say that 5% of men are assholes bigtime and that one of these bad actors gets literally thousands of times more media attention than guys who are just trying to get through the day , I see where we men could really have image problems.
Now for the narcissists. I understand they make up maybe about 2 percent of the population and somewhat more likely to be a male. But when it comes to financial rewards in society, businesses love them! That asshole you may have worked for and still feel the pain from it years later could have easily been one of these. Strangely, at least for now, business does not generally reward women for this miserable trait. But stay tuned…
Well, a minority of women have borderline personality disorder, and can wreak their own form of havoc on their surroundings. There was this dude on Joe Rogan a while back whose ex-wife had it, and what she had put him through was insane. Plus she was a feminist.
Also, bear in mind that women are more sexually attracted to sociopaths than to other men, and that they don’t exactly get moist if your behavior is “softer” and more feminine.
I mean, have you seen the amount of steamy fan mail the Parkland shooter got from women? This is a recurring phenomenon with high-profile murderers. I mean, Charles Manson had his groupies do his bidding FFS.
I’m done with feeling guilty-by-association for other men’s crimes. Because: a) they are more likely to hurt other men than women, and b) their repulsive behavior is actively rewarded by women.
I think this may actually hurt their sales, and that the people who liked the ad on YouTube were primarily women.
I’ve seen so many takes from women defending the ad and gaslighting men for “misunderstanding” it, or for being snowflakes, etc.
I just find it amazingly hypocritical to claim to be fighting “toxic masculinity”, and then aggressively shut down men when they express their feelings about the way you’re doing it.
Anyway, like you I was furious for a while, but, having slept on it, fuck ’em. I’m gonna keep being me, keep being male, and not gonna have an ad tell me to e.g. break up a fight (which plenty of men die doing), or the like. And I’m gonna try to encourage other men to do the same. Just be yourself. Fuck the haters.
If you want to feel better, this ad is a response to Gillette, and I find it far more understanding:

I like the second video because there were more beards. Also it made sense.
Lol @ the beards part.
