I have 2 cats, BOOTS and BIT’S, They both drive me nuts! BIT’S attacks me all day even when I sleep! bites my ankles all the time! comes around like rubbing my legs then I go to pet him and he attacks! He’s Very calculating! BOOT’S is a lover! She won’t leave me alone! gets on my chest looks me in the eyes and kisses me over and over! doesn’t stop! I get no rest around here! I have to go in a room and lock them out! And I MEAN LOCK THE DOOR! Or they will get in never seen anything like these 2 clowns. I was woke up around 7 times last night screaming or being kissed! 🙂
I think pets (the kind that actually want to stay with you, not fish or lizards or “prisoner pets”) are the best therapy for depression because they show us a better world than what we see. I have dogs and cats and I’m constantly trying to figure out how they can be so happy and full of love, even toward nasty people. They’re just happy to be alive and willing to share the planet with everyone. I wish I could tap into that feeling. But it’s the next best thing to see it in action.
I like dogs and birds most. I don’t have any as pets, though I like observing stray dogs and free birds. Sometimes I wish I had a pet dolphin, but I guess for that I’ll need a permit. And a pool. And money.
I have a kitty ^_^
I have a mob of cat. There’s no telling how many cat there are, so it’s just a mob.
I’d like to have an octopus for a pet, in a garden under the sea, near a yellow submarine.
I have 3 cats living in and two community cats I take care of. I also have a dog. The therapeutic value of each is excellent. All are rescues.
The submarine is a great addition to any under sea garden plus it makes a convenient octopus feeder when you need to take a week end away.
I should say all the live ins are rescue. The community cats would be rescued if they wanted to be.
A submarine would just be cool, but an octopus would be eight handfuls. They like to escape their enclosures, from what I understand. I caught one when I lived in Florida and the little jerk was almost impossible to disentangle from the fishing line.
And I hear you there – rescues make the best therapists, just by themselves.
I have a cat. He’s kinda like my anchor. I stick around because I’m afraid of what might happen to him when I go.
He does manage to alleviate my minor depressive episodes with his antics and goofiness, and for the really bad ones, he gives me space but stays close (either in the same room of will insist on being let into the room).
A few times I’d wake up to see him staring at my face, then he’d touch his nose to my cheek or forehead then move to the foot of the bed and doze off.
I’ve had dogs before and they were loyal in the way that dogs are, but I’ve never had a pet that acts like my cat.
my cats do stuff like that all the time. if im crying they are right there to cuddle me and make it better. 🙂
I have a cockatoo and two indoor cats. All three are rescued. And I also have two outdoor cats that I wish were indoors. I love my fanimaly and agree that pets help with depression.
