I’m not religious but sometimes i wish i were because then i imagine how i was born with sicknesses because i wasnt ever supposed to live for as long as i do and modern medicine ruined ‘the plan’. So the reason i feel wrong is because i am wrong and if i died it would be right again. i know there’s a dozen ways to turn this and choose a different conclusion. I just want to feel like it would be okay for me to make the choice to die myself, and that i wouldnt actually hurt others with it

Nice fantasy anyway. Hurt is the constant of the world, you live it hurts and you observe it, you don’t and others hurt and you’re dirt. Poetic that. No idea what I have to offer you apart from commiseration, a common wish for some delusion to use to make sense of it all. It’s absent, however, and now we must cope with that reality. There is no freedom in delusion, it traps just the same as any other structure.
Wanting to be ‘religious’ is like wanting to be insane or to wish to have a warped/false view of life, morality and reality.
What I find most sickening about religion is how it’s been able to place itself as the highest form of goodness and enlightenment, when in reality all that it ever does is replace truth with fiction, cloak evil behavior as ‘good morals’, spread ignorance and turn itself into an enemy of science and reason-the only real paths we have to understanding our universe.
If you’re referring to ‘spirituality’ which some of us secularists/atheists have co-opted from religion to mean a deeper connectedness to the universe (without sky fairies/gods), I can jibe with that. It’s that sensation I get when I’m awestruck by the universe or moved by a beautiful piece of music or art for example.
But religion has absolutely nothing to do with spirituality. It’s just some retarded crap invented in the Bronze Age by con-artists to dupe people into giving them money and filling their heads with foolish lies and fairytales about a magical afterlife while they exploited and enslaved them in this life. Let’s not forget religious wars, some of which are still going on today.
What you stated is exactly right-it is because of religious mores that babies that were better off to be aborted due to birth defects or health issues for instance, were forced into existence and then they go on to have horrible lives. But the religious don’t care about our lives, they think they’re doing the will of the great invisible Ghost in the sky.
Once that religious virus starts eating brains there’s not much you can do about fixing that. Some wise up and escape-like myself but sadly most don’t. The only consolation is that these believers eventually die off like the believers of other dead gods like Thor, Vishnu and Zeus for example.
It is because of religion that they oppose abortion, stem cell research and euthanasia, which have trapped many people in terrible lives full of misery and suffering. At the very least those of us who are not religious should do all we can to remove these lunatics from circles of power so they (and their crazy ideas) have no influence over our lives.
It comforts the dying, brings people together, and makes a life goal more motivating.
Heaven is a beautiful concept. I encourage the existence of religion by putting down atheists when they start shit on social media.
So annoying.
Hateful religions are meh –
Catholics are the greedy ones. ////////you can be religious ………….idk forget it lol what you said.
It’s better to die being honest and truthful to yourself than to be Religious. Especially if it’s the kind that rewards you for praying on you’re knees.
