What is So Good About Humans?

Well, I’m always ready to find some redeeming value in myself and a few people. By and large humans suck. We’re weeds, in terms of ecologically speaking because we’ve spread so far beyond our original ecological niche, and we have no predator apart from ourselves and the awful creatures that spread in our wake.

Yet people create literature, film, art, music, and other things, do these offset all the awfulness? Right now certainly not.

You can’t call us useless though. There are culinary delights, and those aren’t reserved only for the rich and the powerful. I myself can go enjoy a lot of really tasty things, often created by immigrants, despite the massive attempt to wipe out those same immigrants. I enjoy that defiance.

It takes a certain devil may care, laughing while the world burns attitude to survive in the modern era. Making that work is the only way to do anything. I’m in a lot of debt, I have no idea how I’m making it to next payday, but so what? I got my THC, my dog, my games……

My job may well decide they are done with me next week. Because people suck, _frequently_ you have to expect the worst out of them. I had one of my coworkers crying about it…. and I’m sitting over in my seat thinking to myself “Someone just arrived at the party, of course they suck, they cut my damn schedule on Thursday, that isn’t the behavior of a respectful or great employer”

There are bright sides to some darks too. Being a meaningless cog also means that when more is expected of me, I can stare at them blankly as if to say “but I’m just a stupid worker to you, how can you expect me to solve the big problems?” You stupid, worthless IDIOTIC company.

You store the hate up in your heart, waiting for moments to act it out on these bad actors, that’s what I do anyway. I’m a proven menace though. My best hope is that one of my clients grows up and destroys the system that I hate. That would be my work showing results.

People are programmable, brains are the greatest evolutionary product of biology in the history of this planet. Yes, most of the time humans waste it, but I went to school for five years to learn how to program them. Now I get paid to do it.

So that’s the greatest redeeming value in people; they carry around some great hardware that they don’t use, and for the most part the system underestimates. Humans are often submissive, blind and open to suggestion. I can use that.
