For as long as I can remember, I’ve found myself unable to care or put forth effort for anything. I don’t pursue friendly or romantic relationships, and I don’t have any work ethic for academics or finding any sort of job. I’m a quick learner, so I’ve mostly been able to coast through high school on tests alone, though I’m currently at severe risk of needing to repeat my senior year next year. Due to my lackluster academic record and the fact that my family is barely above the poverty line, I have no prospects for college whatsoever.

About three years ago is when I first felt unhappy. I was in high school, had a girlfriend, was president of the film club, but I wasn’t happy. I just felt like there had to be more to life and that going away to college the next year would really open my eyes to the wonder and power off the “real world.” So I moved as far away from home as I could, to Colorado. I feel like I am a failure at life, I also feel like I hate myself. Whenever I tell someone that I dislike my life, they tell me, “Oh theres ppl starving living on the streets.” See thats what I hate, when people tell me that. It’s almost like they are telling me that its my job to be happy because I am not that person. It might be the only way

I really don’t want to commit suicide, but in my case, I think it may be my only way to avoid a life of complete suffering for many more years.

I’m a single, middle aged woman, no children or spouse. Â I have siblings whom I no longer can have a relationship with, for valid and good reasons. Â While I have friends, and I appreciate them, they have their own families and their own lives, I cannot count on them to alleviate the loneliness. Â I’m incredibly, incredibly lonely.
