I know there are so many things to be grateful for. We are not poor, I have a relatively high paying job, a college education, I have friends, my parents are okay, I have food everyday, I am not abused, I have talents, I do not have any major problems that could be the stuff of movies or tv shows, at times I am even considered to be physically attractive by some. This is mental torture. My brain wont allow positive feelings and pleasures, it rejects them like foreign territory. It is not used to positivity so it doesnt know what to do with it. It teased me by making me feel confident and excided and content and motivated for a very short time then slaps me back in the face and replaces these good feelings with guilt anxiety paranoia saddness bordome and fear. An Interesting Take on Depression

I was watching this movie called My S.O. Has Got Depression about a Man who gets depression and struggles to deal with it and how it affects his relationship with his wife. What I liked about this movie was how it well it depicted depression but for me what really made it hit home was Tsure’s (main Â character) feelings of uselessness and how some of the people around him wouldn’t understand his depression and would approach him with a “you need to toughen up” approach to things. I’ve been battling with depression my whole life. I got on anti-depressants when I was about 13, but I caught a lot of flack from my dad’s side of the family so I stopped. I continuedÂ strugglingÂ until I was about 18 and decided to get back on the pills. It seemed better at first, then it got worse. I was contemplating suicide at least once a week.
