Preface: I’m not actually going through with this. I asked God for a sign as I walked with tears in my eyes tonight, he gave me one. At 8:00 pm, I received a internet message from a beautiful soul I hadn’t thought of or had any communication with in years. You know who you are and you did, infact, save my life tonight. I am 26, male. Let me preface this by saying that I am relatively intelligent (B.S. Physics), relatively attractive, and from the outside, it appears that my life is going well. All is not well. It seems almost childish to be posting something here – from my perspective anyway. I’ve always associated some sort of guilt with sharing.  I’ve never been great at articulating my feelings well, and I’ve never found much comfort in expressing them, regardless. I’m not exactly sure what I’m even searching for by registering here. Closure? Comfort in confiding in countless, faceless others? my pathetic, lonely life. thus far.

This one’s pretty long, sorry if I bore anyone. I should preface by saying that I’ve been depressed for four years. I was formally diagnosed with major depressive disorder January of this year, but I knew long before. I’ve never had a true friend, anything even close to a relationship (been led on a few dozen times), and I feel alone constantly. I have kind of an odd question.

First, let me preface that question with a little information. I have smoked on and off for the last three years. For the last year or so, it’s mostly been on. The reason I started was because I figured that it could replace some of my less-than-desirable hobbies (ie, cutting and burning myself). And surprisingly, it worked.
