Nikki,

You have broken one of the cardinal rules of this site. You need to keep your religion and your “God” to yourself. I’m very happy for you if you are a spiritual person and that it brings you comfort and joy, to each his/her own. However, not everyone believes the same things you do or shares in that spirituality. All you accomplish by bringing “God” and religion onto this site is to anger people and have them miss the whole point of your post. For example let’s examine the responses to this post you have made. Overwhelmingly negative, yes? People get so thrown off by the “God” thing that they are blinded to the rest of your post and message which in my opinion is a reasonably good and positive one. So to Nikki and other people of faith, just keep that stuff to yourself because it’s only going to anger people and have them completely ignore your message.

I know that it might be difficult for you to understand why people become so angry about “God” and religion. Let me explain why I personally become physically ill by people spewing their religious garbage on here trying to help people. For someone like myself, who doesn’t believe in “God”, your faith equals ignorance. Your belief in an all knowing and seeing supernatural being is pitiful. It’s no different than voodoo priests sacrificing goats or a Wiccan praying to a tree. The fact that ANYONE can believe in something that cannot be scientifically quantified in this day and age is just laughable. There is no proof of a God and there never has been. If anything there is only proof to the contrary such as all the suffering and pain endured by the members of this site, little kids dying slow painful deaths of cancer, and all the other daily atrocities that happen on this planet. Yet people of faith will respond to this with more childlike ignorance, “It’s God’s plan,” or, “You have to have faith.” Whenever I debate these facts with a religious person that’s what it always comes down to, faith. Faith, this blind acceptance and belief of something that you cannot touch, smell, see, hear, or taste, this belief in something that despite your advanced brain and all the modern knowledge it contains you still like a child who believes in Santa accept as truth. Would you not laugh at me if I started praying to Santa and saying I had faith in his existence? How is that any different from your belief in “God”?

Now I’m sure that I have made the religious people who visit this site angry. That was not my intention. I merely wished to demonstrate the emotion that many of us feel when religion and “God” are brought into posts here. The things I said were pretty infuriating weren’t they? Now you can begin to understand why so many people have reacted negatively to Nikki’s post.

So again, Nikki and other spiritual people here, I am glad that you have found something to believe in that makes you happy and sustains you. That is bully for you. However, preaching your beliefs to others is not acceptable. Understand that it only angers people and they will completely miss the good and positive non-religious things you have to say. I don’t make posts about my religious beliefs so please be respectful and reciprocate.
