Same thought of death ran through my head when I was walking across a bridge. I asked my friend who is quite knowledgeable when it comes to psychology (his parents are both psychologists) if he thought it was possible to have suicidal thoughts and not be depressed, he said that one would most likely lead to the other, well I’m not depressed so Im sure there is something wrong with me if I can’t stop thinking about death.
People have all sorts of thoughts, you may think they’re way out there…scary, weird. Is it possible to not engage the thought? Just let it pass. There’s nothing wrong with thinking that, it’s what we do with our thoughts that ends up being the deciding factor. Sounds pretty normal and you are not the first person to think that.
There’s a concept in Existential philosophy that humans, when standing on a high ledge, are sometimes overcome by an urge to throw themselves off the ledge. It has to do with manifesting an extreme display of control of ones life, as if by choosing to kill yourself you prove you hold all the power in directing your life (so much so that you control how and when it will end). I have been overcome with similar fears, both while driving and while literally standing on the edges of cliffs. I am uncertain how you should react to this, but would advise you approach your feelings with curious caution.

I think of doing that all the time but I always think man what if I survive. For sure I’ll end up in the loony bin.
Because you really want to die. I am like that, too. If I walked on a bridge, I would fantasise about jumping off it.
