It’ll be whatever you want it to be, I think. I just picture it like walking through a field of hay (yeah, I know it’s weird, cheesy, or whatever, but that’s my opinion), just blissfully happy for once. Life without worry, life without life.
In my opinion you either go to heaven or hell
thanks. do you think about if you die what would happen to you?
OK, let’s look at this logically.
First of all, beyond near death experiences, sometimes hallucinatory episodes occurring during clinical death or seeing a tunnel and bright light (consistent with oxygen deprivation in the brain), nobody has returned from complete information-theoretic death (unless you believe unsubstantiated rumour or myth), so anything we know about whether experience is possible after death and what that experience would entail is purely informed conjecture.
Secondly, many religious people have unfounded beliefs in the supernatural grounded on faith. Faith, being by definition “believing in something despite complete lack of evidence” is fine for those who are happy believing whatever they want despite reality, but if you are really interested in knowing whether what you believe is correct or not, evidence is the only way that we can measure the true nature of reality.
Consider that everything we know about consciousness and thought is controlled by parts of the brain. There is absolutely no evidence suggesting that there is anything supernatural about our existence. With this in mind, consider that information-theoretic death results in complete irreversible destruction of one’s brain. It logically follows that when this occurs, consciousness and experience are terminated permanently. Oblivion. Non-existence. Void. Nothing.
“I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.” -Mark Twain
^ so are you saying that i wont exist after i die. i’ll become nothing. right now i feel like nothing but im breathing. so the afterlife is like being nothing and not living.
Haha Engie…couldn’t resist…sounds like you read alot…but have never experienced what you read about? Am I wrong? And just for the sake of argument…Mark Twain also attended seances…spoke to spirits…believed in reincarnation and predicted the exact date and time of his own death…accurately. I would love to stay and argue this point…but my lids are drooping. I had an NDE myself in 2001…so yeah…you’ll not likely convince me anytime soon that your right any way…empirical science is only half the story eh?
Have a good night all…watch out for the full moon

I watched the most informative video on afterlive tv. Bob Olson talked about the after life of people who commit suicide, not that you are. When I was going to kill myself his confidence and wisdom comforted me. You can also watch the video on Youtube. Just look up ‘What Happens In The Afterlife To People Who Commit Suicide?’ It’s the first result, the uploader is AfterlifeTVChannel.
I don’t know if its true, but you can decide for yourself what you think if you want to watch the video.
thankyou for all your help
That is very nearly what I am saying. What I am saying is I don’t know the answer, and anyone who tells you they do it’s lying, but there is no reason to believe it is anything other than oblivion coupled with the destruction of all consciousness supporting parts of the brain.
Yes, near death experiences with hallucinations of a wide range of interpretations of the afterlife are quite common and you can consider them evidence if you so wish, but inconsistent hallucinations from oxygen deprived brains seems to me to be shaky evidence at best, and are not experienced by everyone.
Empirical evidence may be half of the picture, but anything asserted without empirical evidence is a baseless claim. There is no more reason to believe your baseless claim over any other. So empirical evidence may not describe everything yet, everything we know is real is supported by evidence.
Mark Twain also wasted most of his money on bad investments, however, the value of am idea its independent of the identity of its originator.
I feel like it’s necessary to emphasise this point:
There are no reliable accounts of anyone ever returning from information-theoretic death (the destruction of the brain). Regardless of what they say, no one alive knows for certain what happens after you die.
If you find out after you die, you’ll know it was something other than oblivion.
Peace.
I watched this show about a brain surgeon, who had no beleif at all in something happening after death, and he had a near death experience. He was in a coma, but when he was ‘dead’, he went into heaven and saw his sister who died, but he had never seen her in his life. He said this ‘heaven’ was dreamy and beautiful. Now, he had no relgious view or anything, so this is what makes me beleive it. And on this show, they said that there could be chance that, i think it’s your brain cells, that keep living when you die and that your spirit and soul lives forever.
Gumpy
its a personal choice. i really dont believe anything happens after you die. I have been to lots of funerals in my life and this whole thing about ‘you will see them in heaven’ just does not make sense to me. i find it hard to believe that my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and a cousin of mine are somewhere roaming around or watching over me. I just think we die and thats it. believing in heaven is a nice thought though.
Hello im-worthless,
Too sad to argue much today…but I will reccommend something that a kind soul offered to me almost a year ago. Gonna go find it…but wanted to let you know that you will probably have to moderate it as it will contain a link. This is the closest account I have heard of what I experienced…and she explains it in a way I never could. If you have time…watch it…and let me know what you think eh? I will never be won back over to the dark side completely…cuz now I know. Atleast enough to answer my questions. But then I have had a remarkable NDE myself…that lasted over 6 hours. If you check out the video…again let me know what you think.
Peace
Ama
ps…link coming right up…lol
