Cutting yourself is what you call “self-mutilation”. You cut yourself because you simply hate yourself.
Sometimes, self-mutilation feels like the solution to your misery and depressing thoughts, but that’s not true. Self-mutilation only hurts your body, and sooner or later, you will find yourself more depressed.
First of all, you have to realize that self-mutilation is NOT the solution to your problems. It won’t change anything or make you feel better.
Second, you should flip that frown upside down. Instead of dwelling in your past mistakes, think of ways you can change your future in your present. I believe you need some hope. Just choose a small thing that you can change about yourself. Start with that first. You can’t become a better person right away; it takes lots of perseverance and patience. You need to hold on. As you work on bits by bits, you’ll become a better person eventually.
Hating yourself will not change you. You have to learn that you are you, and you CAN CHANGE. You are not a broken robot. You are an alive human being. Embrace yourself. Whenever you make mistakes or wrong choices, just learn from it! Mistakes are made to help you succeed, not to hold you back.
Lastly, find something that you really love and enjoy.. and use that to become your emotional support in place of self-mutilation.
Hope you stop cutting yourself. It must hurt a lot.. both inside and outside.. Tell me how it goes.. I’ll be here to listen to you.
But cutting does not equate to a solution to misery or self hatred or depression. It is simply a means of COPING with misery, self hatred and/or depression.
Basically, it is a BETTER way a dealing with very strong negatives in a less harmful way than you “could” be doing (IE suicide). You are choosing to cut instead of something far worse or even permenant.
And for that – I say good choice. Now obviously, the better choice is to replace the cutting with a different way of coping with whatever it is that is upsetting you. Some people do rubber bands, or draw pictures or relation methods. I have only just begun DPT (self harm therapy) so I can not really relay too much yet. But as a fellow-cutter – I think that I do understand your pain. Your feeling of self hate or “emptiness”. And the need to feel or SEE something real. The visual of cuts I find very comforting.
I hope you find a better way. And if my therapy works…. or I hear good ideas – I will pass them along for all my fellow cutters out there.

cutting gives you false and current feeling that your pain is going away..it doesnt and it makes things even worse,i know,im cutter.and once you get into cutting, you cant go out .at least not that easy.so if you can, dont even start ..
Cutting oneself really is a simple means to relieve emotional pain by creating physical harm. It is a short term solution, and the only real solution is confronting what got you to this point.
