Some people don’t know this and need to know this!
When people have responded to my posts on this site I have received their email address that they used when they registered on this site and this email also contained their IP address!
This is not cool and people need to know this! Your email address and IP address is being spread by this WordPress site to people who you don’t know!
There is an icon in the top left corner that resembles a comic book speech bubble. By clicking on this you can see information about people’s email addresses if they are posting to your feed! This is wrong!

I’m pretty sure there’s even a warning about not using your “real” or “main” email. I encountered such a thing when i signed up, but i don’t remember how or where.
But yeah, everything we do through the internet is tracked and traced and discoverable by someone, somewhere, and almost all of it is logged. You can “hide” your registered email in the options, or just substitute a “dummybox.”
That said, the NSA’s brand new ultra-mega-super extreme data-center should be online and functional very soon, if not already. Everything they can record, through all electronic services, will be stored there.
So that makes online spying okay?
Most people aren’t as savvy as you, mate!
The practice of this site is disgusting and people need to know it!
Dont post here with an email address that you use on a regular basis!
Clevername would say Duh! but he forgets that there are lot of young vulnerable people on this site!
Doesn’t make it okay, but it is what it is, and we can’t really change it.
You might be surprised just how often and in how many places things like emails and IP’s get published.
That said, i’m pretty sure i encountered a warning of some kind, from the system, when i signed up, saying something along the lines of “whatever email you use will be visible, and will likely get spammed, so don’t use one that you want to keep private and clean.”
Like i said, i don’t remember how i encountered that, or when/where it was during the process… but i do distinctly remember being cautioned during the registration process.
This site claims that it will delete posts that promote suicide methods!
Hmmm, I haven”t seen that yet!
Nothing said my email would be spread to other members!
How do we disable our account?
I’ve seen it happen a few times… but they’re usually pretty flexible and understanding on what they allow. Have a look in the spam and trash sections of the admin panel. Lots of stuff gets dropped.
I don’t care! known of this is mentioned in advance!
Perhaps it is a flawed system, but what do you expect them to do about it? It’s not like they can erase the memories of those who might have figured out who you are, or delete knowledge of your email address from their minds!
You can change the displayed address.
I just went and looked for myself, and i don’t see a way to not display an email address.
f*%k ’em good luck!
Did you seriously delete my response? really? … why?

FYI – let’s be accurate – email addresses are not posted “publicly”. the email addresses of respondents can be seen by the originator of a post on the comments page – in other words the user who started this thread can see the email address of those who commented – like i am here – now 78hundred has my email address … if you don’t want anyone at all to have your email, simply don’t comment on anyone’s thread, but please stop making this out to be the US government’s Patriot act running amok here … FYI – it’s sound internet practice to not use your main personal email account for ANYTHING that exposes your information to people and web sites that are unknown

Dawg, I’ve settled down a bit.
I deleted the other three posts because they were the same and kept this one up as it was the first version of my rant.
I didn’t delete your response I deleted the whole post because when I got angry I posted duplicates of this post.
P.S. I would still class the email listings in the background of the post as being made public, even though only the original poster can see them.
Fair enough about the post/comments 😉
my definition of “public” is unrestricted, unfettered wide open access to anyone and everyone – like having it etched on a statue in the town square … while i recognize that an email address can be collect relatively easy on this site … the causal visitor cannot just browse around and collect them at will … a person needs to first register then make a compelling post and hope that the person with the desired email responds … not hard, but not “public” … at least in my opinion – you do have a fair point that the availability and sharing of personal information is not exactly revealed upon registering on the site so it can be a bit troubling when you come to realize it – but i stand by my information and advice
cheers 🙂

This all seems very illeagle. Very ilegal indeed. Someone ought to lodge a formal written complaint.
I can’t spell illeegal. That means it doesn’t count.
Ive been seeing things recently. I don’t know how to explain it but this site is giving me signs that cannot just be coincidences and quite frankly rather spooky. I haven’t found a way to use them to plan my life yet.
