I’m a 22 year old mother, my daughter is 8 months old, I have a college degree, and I still can’t get out of my parents house. Fuck. I gotta get out. -.-
I assume at least it’s a free place to live? I know how frustrating it is to live with parents after a certain age but is it so bad that you’d rather trade for having to work enough to pay for rent all while having a child? I guess I’m just saying try to make the best of it. Having a place to stay with the condition of the economy is a good thing.
At least you have hope. I am disabled, I am thirty nearly, I only ever get to live in hospitals and with my parents. Set goals and work hard. If I were healthy I would work so hard if it meant I could get a place of my own.
@riverrun it might not be so bad if they didn’t constantly act like I was such a horrible person so much, I might actually be able to climb out of this black hole I’m in if they didn’t kick me back down every time I’m starting to get back up.
@Rach I’m so sorry 🙁 I wish the very best for you and that things become easier at least if its only for your peace of mind.
@PainNlife I have an associates in Graphic design, I will hopefully be returning to school this spring to pursue my bachelors and then my masters. After that I plan to return for a masters in Art Education.
I lived with my dad for a long time, under his roof and rules and we never liked each other much. But I was an idiot and didn’t see the importance of living on my own till some bad stuff happened in my life-not related to my dad. Eventually I snapped out of it and realized I had to live on my own no matter what. After a long hard struggle I found an ok job and moved out and very glad I did. It is hard to live on your own but worth it.
In your case you have a kid and probably no bf/husband to help raise it. So you’re kind of stuck with your parents till the kid can be more independent, which won’t happen for a while. At least the kid might have to be 4 or 5 till it is ok with you leaving home to work.
@secondlife that’s basically my situation, her father committed suicide and the only reason I’m even going to be able to attend college is because they have a day care program that’s worked into tuition. My mom, who sits at home all day or is at the store won’t/can’t watch her because of all these physical problems and whatnot, and my dad works all the time so if I went to work I wouldn’t have anyone to watch her and around here daycare is really expensive.

If you don’t mind me asking what is your degree in?
