In case anyone was wondering, I am also a male masquerading as a female. You get those on the Internet sometimes. Don’t let the feminine username and avatar fool you.
A: old enough to be offended by your arbitrarily red and centered text! Nevermind the question itself, and the assumption that only young people would ever despair enough to post public comments on a suicide-related web-space…
@RealTalk if you were really curious about my appearance/age, you could always email me and I’ll give you some photos. I don’t want to put them up here in case there’s anyone I know in real life. I could post something else, not that.
You know, i’m gonna come out of left-field here and bust out some Shakespeare analysis, of a particularly famous quote:
“…to be… or not to be, THAT…”
He already knows what it’s possible to be, and questions whether he really wants to be that, versus being nothing at all. The key is in the emphasis of the “THAT” part, and the emphatic pauses surrounding it, as well as the context.
Most people read it as though it is:
“to be, or not to be…”
“That, it the question…”
But it’s actually this:
“To be, or not to be, THAT…”
“…is the question.”
He has seen his fate; or at least, he has seen his potential, and doubts he wants to continue in such a manner… though it is the only choice, other than death.
This is an incredibly dramatic, profound notion… which was the man’s trademark.
It’s not vague at all. It’s not ambiguous. He’s talking about viewing suicide from a noble angle, since it’s likely better than being whatever he thinks “that” is… because he has seen… it’s either be “that,” or just not be.
Of course, this is all assuming that “most people” probably perceive it the way i described above. Maybe i’m the only one who took this long to figure that out? 😛
But if so, that’s okay, because i never really thought it was all that important for me to accurately interpret Shakespeare.
I’m not really into reading or consuming entire works, by anyone… but i don’t feel like explaining that, though i do have justification for it. Suffice to say: i would prefer to have my own thoughts, rather than conform to the typical paradigm of thinking whatever the popular books tell me to think, because that’s expected by anyone i might call my peers. Not interested in that. I don’t think any of the “masters” have ever gotten everything right, anyway.
So i view life and knowledge like a stew, and i’m just waiting to pick out the juicy morsels and meat chunks. Broth is cheap and plentiful. To get the good parts, you gotta stir the pot. And if you fill up on rice and broth, you’ll be full before you get to the best parts. IMO, the best parts are the only things worth consuming, and the rest is just there to help condition and season it.
Too much of my life has been filled with naught but rice and broth, even to the point where i refuse to take another bite of anything that isn’t what i want.
So i can’t help but think… to seriously consider… to deeply contemplate:
@clevername that could have been a good post…. but anyways… I’ll admit I always viewed it as the way most people did….but now that you’ve pointed that out I can see it…
Interesting fact or maybe not but the fastest growing suicide age group is men over the age of seventy – just shows that no matter how old there are a lot of people who see he world as screwed up
Ohh… nothing. Just some inane ramblings i felt like blurting out. It’s kinda like how bodybuilders need to get a pump; sometimes i just need to type a lot.
Also: i don’t think that 70+ year old men are choosing to exit “because the world is screwed up.” It’s most likely because they already know they are nearing death, and don’t want to be debilitated by age, and don’t want to stick around past their own usefulness. It probably sucks really bad to feel like you’re all used up and can’t even enjoy peacefully existing and reflecting on a lifetime of accomplishments. Lots of them are probably broke, too, since the dollar has so heavily declined since those 70+’ers were young. Lots of them probably feel like they worked their lives away for a lie that didn’t turn out the way they were taught to expect.
@ persephone everyone loves a good mystery so dont tell us the ending its what keeps us tuning in the fact that everyone has some anonymity allows honest and frank discussion which most of us cant get outside of here
Oh, our generations (from X and on) are figuring it out far earlier than any previous generation, and will be fucked far harder and worse than any prior generation has been before us. Look up an article on forbes about “purchasing power,” and the comparison between 50 years ago and today. That shit made me sick to be shown in such plain and simple terms.
@ persephone very perceptive mysterious one yeah i have been away for a while kn what people may call a psychological vacation nice to see peopleare still as screwed up as ever
@ clevername try looking up the hitchhikers guide to the universe for persephones reference its worth taking the time to read way more perceptive than shakespeare
@ persephone well thats my little mystery left when a lot of people were staming their final pay checks tried to myself but had a very dramatic failure lol so back trying to convince myself why i want /need /have to be here is it just for the hell of it or is there actually meaning
“Lots of them probably feel like they worked their lives away for a lie that didn’t turn out the way they were taught to expect.”
Has more to do with the way certain factions of the government changed the rules to screw them out of the security they paid for in good faith … and the greed that corporations they worked for exploited to renege on the promises they made … it’s real easy for businesses to promise pensions then to just file bankruptcy and poof … sorry, no money left for you … of course the ceos and their cronies already bled the company dry with massive salaries and bonuses which are safely stocked away in off shore accounts … but that’s ok … they’re good church going folk … you “know” they meant well and did their best (eyeroll)
(hint: it predominantly the republicans who don’t want safeguards and regulations to protect consumers and workers from these corporate “accidents” – but go ahead and keep voting them into office – they’re make you “free” … free to slave away where ever you choose at slave wages … free to starve … free to go to any doctor or hospital you choose if you can ever afford it)
They worked their asses off all their lives only to be fucked out of everything they earned – and it was made legal to fleece them … but at least they are free to get a gun … unless you have a “mental issue” – like depression from getting raped of all your worldly possessions … and you’re free to worship god freely – as long as it is a government approved christian god
It’s not just republicans. Don’t forget, that whole thing is a false, left-right paradigm. Both sides are evil, just different flavors of evil, and the dichotomy exists to keep us distracted from the real issues, from which neither side of that paradigm has ever intended to save us from itself.
My point was that the older people didn’t have easy access to so much information, and so they were more easily deceived… but you should also check out that article i mentioned above.
Lots of people spent their lives working for something which has not only just “lost” its value, but has had its value intentionally diminished, in order to exploit the psychologically enslaved workers.
50 years ago, a general laborer earned more “purchasing power” for his efforts, than does a “senior engineer” today. Isn’t that just disgusting?
And what are the rest of us supposed to do? Work to death without ever having lived, that’s what. Or we could just off ourselves. OR, we could organize and revolt… but i predict most people take the path of least resistance, because sheep are taught to flow with the herd, and follow the wolves who portray themselves as shepherds, while warning the flock about “wolves in sheep’s clothing,” who likely walk among them.
Sheople shouldn’t worry about the wolf in the flock; they should worry about the wolf in the lead, pretending to be a shepherd. But they’re too busy being distracted by frightening fantasies, to notice what’s really happening: they’re being herded to the slaughterhouse, not protected from wolves.
Cut the crap Dawg. How anyone can feel sorry for grown adults who should know damn well how to act like one is beyond me.
“Has more to do with the way certain factions of the government changed the rules to screw them out of the security they paid for in good faith … and the greed that corporations they worked for exploited to renege on the promises they made”
Which factions? Look, alot of good people have, are, and will be screwed out of money. In other words, and at this point in time, the CONfidence-artists are getting bolder. But what does that say about their marks?
It’s one thing to get played, it’s another to get played and then not put people in their place. To make it out like these people were steamrolled by the corporations where they sought their bankrupt idea of “security”, and attribute no liability to them is dishonest. Where were these people when they were collecting fat dividends from their investment securities? Oh I get it, so long as the equities market was kicking back some interest money for blowing a hole right through the fabric of society everything was kosher.
@Fro … all i can say is “Wow” … at least by the time you get to my age there will be no rules left that allow you to keep your money and possessions unless you bury it in the back yard … but then they’ll find a way to take your yard if they ever allow you enough success to acquire a yard/property … what ever was i thinking … us silly silly old geezers actually believing that the rules and practices would remain in place to protect us … aren’t we a bunch of ignorant morons … well … then it should be no great loss when we’re “gone” … kinda makes it easy since i don’t want to live in a world where the rich and powerful can legally enslave the masses and take anything they choose from whoever they choose without consequence.

And at the funeral or in the hospital room of our hero … his friend Fro-not-so-zen approaches the spouse/mother/father/sister/brother/children and proclaims:

I go back to my original response … “Wow”

I turn 2 billion years old on Thursday.

I’m 69 huehuehuehue
5.6 decades
42 on my next b-day, yo.
In case anyone was wondering, I am also a male masquerading as a female. You get those on the Internet sometimes. Don’t let the feminine username and avatar fool you.
^^Who cares..no one is trying to play with your privates here! lol
I’m 31.
In my family, they live to be over 100 sometimes.
😫Some one shoot me!!!
A: old enough to be offended by your arbitrarily red and centered text! Nevermind the question itself, and the assumption that only young people would ever despair enough to post public comments on a suicide-related web-space…
@RealTalk In real life I look like Santa Claus. Except that I only let girls who are 18+ sit on my lap.
Also:
@SB: +1 for “huehuehue”
Approval achieved.
That’s…..disturbing! lol
At least we have something in common though! Hehe
Except I look more like Santa’s lil brown elf! 😀
@RealTalk I’m just having fun today. 😉 Don’t mind me. (My identity can be confirmed by other posters.)
“Except that I only let girls who are 18+ sit on my lap.”

@RealTalk (My actual identity, that is. One shouldn’t believe everything one hears on the Internet.)
@Dawg 😀 (See above.)
FYI
40 > Dawg < 60
pickle dawg
In a perfect world, we would all be some one else I’m sure. Preferably, everyone else would be me. ðŸ˜
I think I might put up something sometime that will give you all a validation of who I am 😉
@RealTalk Obviously I’d be a 19-year-old supermodel. At least I look like a model of sorts, even if one who’s more around 25.
That would be nice! 🙂 if you post it and tell me that it’s the real you, I will believe you!
If you post it and tell me that it’s some one else, I will remain a sceptic! lol
Skeptic! lol
I’ll be 23 next month.
I’m too too old…. (22) get it? too too? 2 2? ah it was a bad pun I know lol

And i think the answer is No.
@clevername that could have been a good post…. but anyways… I’ll admit I always viewed it as the way most people did….but now that you’ve pointed that out I can see it…
I don’t post my picture cuz I don’t want people telling me I’m too hot to be on a suicide site….that wouldn’t be fair to everyone else! 😉
In my mind, I’m just kidding, but in reality…opinions may differ!
Clevername what in the name of Great Scott are you banging on about.
(Don’t worry, who I say I am in private is true. I could record personalized Vines for anyone who wanted that.)
Interesting fact or maybe not but the fastest growing suicide age group is men over the age of seventy – just shows that no matter how old there are a lot of people who see he world as screwed up
I can’t even picture myself at 30 let alone 70….70 years on this rock? ummm I’ll take spaceship for 200$ alex!
I shouldn’t troll you guys. Either you’re more gullible than I thought, or I really am that mysterious.

Yeah so imagine just how much worse it’ll be for this generation when they reach that age and realize it was all bullshit
@ persephone everyone loves a good mystery so dont tell us the ending its what keeps us tuning in the fact that everyone has some anonymity allows honest and frank discussion which most of us cant get outside of here

(good to see you all, by the way)
@persephone: ah, aha… claiming to be the answer to life, the universe, and everything… well played.
Too bad i’ll never have time to read whatever book that’s from, to understand the significance of that seemingly arbitrary number.
@ persephone very perceptive mysterious one yeah i have been away for a while kn what people may call a psychological vacation nice to see peopleare still as screwed up as ever
@clevername You should really make the time. It’s a good one. Not a difficult read. (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.)
@Stendarr Hey grrrl. Is that you in your avatar? I had imagined you as being a brunette who puts their hair up in ponytails, anyway.

It’s not just republicans. Don’t forget, that whole thing is a false, left-right paradigm. Both sides are evil, just different flavors of evil, and the dichotomy exists to keep us distracted from the real issues, from which neither side of that paradigm has ever intended to save us from itself.

Just so there’s no confusion – I’m under 35 and I’m a female (with the physique of a model, as I like to think). I was joking yesterday.
I think I seem a lot younger than I am, I seem like I’m only thirteen or something.
