Ask a squirrel that’s getting stalked by a large tabby.
What is a sufficient reason to live? Because you’re valuable to society? Because you can see the potential for good things that might happen, despite having no assurance that they will happen? Guilt? Whatever you find that motivates you is probably good enough so long as the whole living thing doesn’t stop at that single point. Life must grow outwards and adapt, else life is no longer life.
Lorax, I dont understand your example. A squirrel experiences fear at that point, yes. But that is not why it wants to live. It runs on instinct. On the need to eat another nut. On need to procreate. I personally hate nuts (and at this point it would feel like cannibalism bc I am a nut) and I have no desire to procreate.
As for living only for fear of the alternative, halts life. For humans, life cannot be a passive endeavor and grow or adapt. Yet we are at a point in our history where a person can live passively and still LIVE. No sabretooth tiger is coming along to eat you bc you just lay in your cave all day.

In a word……Nope
No, is it actually the fear of death, the fear of nonexistence or the fear of any suffering yours or others that death may bring, my friend?
