According to my family, having suicidal thoughts doesn’t count, and it’s a big cry for attention, and I have ABSOLUTELY no reason to want to die. Hm, I guess having a dead father, and an abandoned mom doesn’t count.
Why should you care about what other people think what does count and what does not? They are the general public who base their opinions on the normality of things, how do you think they’re going to understand depression or even melancholia if it’s not such a discussed and general/normal thing?
people dont even have to understand it. if they would just allow others to talk about it – and stop shaming and guilting those who have it – suicidal people might be less inclined to follow through. the stigma and disgust of others towards those who are suicidal pushes the seriousness of it back into the shadows – and the suicidal person off the cliff so to speak. we dont need help to feel worse than we already do. people dont commit suicide because they feel fucking awesome.
