People use that phrase to control/manipulate others, all the time, even when they know it’s not quite true. Rarely does anyone ever mean it as much or in the way you want them to.
Because there’s a chance you might say it back.
If you tell your dog you love him, he just gives you a quizzical look but never says those three little words back to you.
Would you be implying that we shouldn’t use a phrase and words common in showing affection. People do care, I for example had a day of mine ruined when one here turned words into action. Why shouldn’t we offer support and affection to people? Why shouldn’t we give people a chance to rest before they continue their climb up towards something better. Words are powerful and isn’t it a nice feeling when someone cares? Why should we stop it? It isn’t fake nor malicious it’s empathy and care for those who we feel are in similiar circumstance.

It’s the satire of tongue-in-cheek. Shouldn’t be taken personally.
Because someone REALLY loves you. Consider yourself lucky. Some people doesn’t even have that.
