Speaking from personal experience, I’ve come to the conclusion you can get yourself out of depression .. without therapy or antidepressants
I’ve made a lot of progress since late 2011 – early 2012 .. back then I was very depressed with suicidal thoughts
I felt depleted of energy throughout the day regardless of how long I had stayed in bed
I remember that one time, I tried doing pushups but couldn’t find the strength .. leaving this world was the one and only thing that truly resonated with me, everything else was just blah
these days, I feel good most of the time and I experience levels of energy I never suspected I had
meditation, positive affirmations (loaded with a feeling of confidence), reprogramming of your subconscious, learning about chakras (especially the 3 lower chakras): these are some of the methods I used to climb out of the depths of depression
I recommend checking out Bruce Lipton videos on the conscious & subconscious mind .. it’s crucial that you learn about the subsconscious mind because with most of us, our subconscious mind has been programmed to sabotage our conscious desires and goals, gnaw at our self-esteem etc
For those who experience apathy most of the time (I’ve been there too), gain knowledge on the process of intention-visualization-action-manifestation
usually referred to as intention-manifestation
I mentioned chakras because being poorly grounded, a lack of vitality, a weak will or sense of power are symptoms of underactive/blocked lower chakras
I’m not a big fan of antidepressants because the human body is organic in nature and prescription drugs are man-made/synthetic .. if you believe you need to ingest something in order to get better, it would be wiser (IMO) to look into plants/herbs and their medicinal values
I won’t knock down therapy: I’m aware a good therapist can help you to have a better understanding of yourself .. therapists can assist you on your getting better journey, but the power and responsibility for getting better still lies within you
Just wanted to share what worked for me .. I hope ALL OF YOU get better because as far as I’m concerned, noone was born to feel like shit for an eternity

what is the #1 thing that worked 4 you naturally without meds? . I have been prescribed many and they don’t work. I feel my life slipping away daily. the panic just wont stop.
(1) making mental affirmations on the regular (these have to be laced with emotions such as a feeling of confidence or excitement (I’m aware this isn’t the easiest thing to do when you’re depressed but the more you practise the easier it gets)), (2) meditating (it helps to clear the mind in my experience) and (3) reading (a way for your mind to take a break from feeling shitty) are what took me out of the depressive state .. you can find valuable information here & there in the self-help genre .. if you aren’t into books, you can always check out Steve Pavlina’s website: there’s a plethora of thought-provoking articles
I’ve also heard of sthg called EFT (emotional freedom techniques) and its effectiveness but never looked into it
