Today was kind of a weird day, the best/worst was what happened about an hour ago.
I was doing my usual stint at one of the wifi spots. Hurt more than usual today, so I laid low while waiting for the pain meds to work.
There was a guy sitting at one of the other tables.
I didn’t pay much attention to him until I got up to use the restroom. On my way back, doing my usual careful slow walk with the cane, I happened to glance up. His expression hit me.
Disgust. Contempt. Hate. Revulsion.
He glared as I hobbled carefully and slowly. It’s been a while since I’ve seen someone show such an undisguised reaction of disgust toward a disability.
After I sat down, he still stared for awhile before going back to whatever he was doing.
I tried not to let it get to me, but hell. Why are people like that sometimes?
Before he left, he got up to go to the bathroom.
A few minutes later on his way out, I happened to notice… there was a strip of toilet paper stuck to his shoe.
He left.
Gosh, I sure hope no one stares at him or glares…. LOL.
Sometimes karma is nice.

Wow what an asshole…. I’m rooting for the toilet paper
I know, right?
I once saw a woman exit the restroom, in a busy tourist-filled area, with about six feet of toilet paper trailing from the back of her jeans.
Hope she didn’t end up in too many tourist photos…
I’m wondering if that was intentional on her part and she was just trying to steal toilet paper…. and some of what she stuffed in her jeans decided to pull itself out…. It is a possibility, although I normally just steal rolls when I go into public restrooms.
really!! i would have liked to have been there! maybe we could have danced! but i like to lead!! 🙂
If you ask him nicely, he will probably let you lead.
oh i would have! would you care do dance? pow!
I can’t imagine why someone would look at a disability that way. Maybe fear – a reminder that we humans are fragile. Or maybe you reminded him of an ex-girlfriend. Or maybe his coffee really sucked and he was just mad at the world.
Maybe he comes from another planet where hateful glares are the way they try to attract a potential mate.
Like Klingons?
On this planet, the hateful glares usually don’t appear until the people have already been married a few years.
@ mysteriousvisitor: LOL, yes! Like Klingons. 🙂
Which makes sense, because the toilet paper was “clinging-on….”
😮
(Yeah, I made myself groan with that one.)
Yeah, and toilet paper tends to hang around Uranus.
very good!! i like that one!! 🙂
if given a choice i’d rather not be disabled in the brain 🙂
I have brain issues too, but I still try to be a nice person.
Unless I’m in traffic behind someone going 45 in a 55 zone.
I’m slightly less nice then.
Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.
i think we all have that disability 🙂
Yes, but mine show up on an MRI. 😉
But I’m sure you can still rack up an “honorable mention”. (!)
If did a MRI on me they’d throw a towel over my head and say he’s gone!! 🙂
And then they would probably bill you anyway. 😉
Wow, seriously this guy was straight up staring? That’s so rude, glad karma made him look like an ass.
Karma is a real *****. I shovel as much good karma out there as possible. I hate tp stuck to my shoes.
