I get the impression paying attention to the small details makes a really big difference. That doesn’t make it 100% but it seems to make a significant difference. I see a lot of posts where someone had everything planned except for one small thing, and that was the determining factor.
My attempt was a spur of the moment sort of deal ..( I did that before I found this site . ) My planning was 0% .. I tried to suicide by CO by running garden hose from the car exhaust into the car .. Worked for my brother in law .. 30 years ago .. If I looked into it a bit more I would have found out that this method wont work in cars today due to new exhaust emissions .. BUT Planning and going through with it is be harder than Spur of the moment ..
It’s alcohol with me. I cant do it totally sober, and I can’t do it totally pissed. Need to be in inbetween. I think one third of suicides do it when they’re drunk. Dunno why it’s not more, get a good piss up before you go.
Oh woody I was smashed when I sat in the car . I had to sober up for a few days then when the time was right I started smashing back the JW .. Even took a cold one with me .. Problem was I finished the drink in about 5mins but sat in the car for 2 hours .. Good times …ha
One huge variable that can contribute to success is isolation, i.e. being out of reach of possible intervention. For instance, going into a remote part of a forest/wilderness area. Also, have a backup plan … for instance, in case the rope doesn’t work, keep a knife with you (and knowledge of how to use it). If all the backups fail or you don’t even have the courage to go through with your attempt at all, you can sit there and do nothing … till your body’s need for water brings you success.
An interesting friend of mine once thought of the following: Stand on the railing of a tall bridge, , hold a grenade in one hand, tie a rope from the bridge to the pin of the grenade, hold a gun in the other hand. You get the idea 😀
Whatever you do, do it in isolation, and try to keep a backup method.
Letting go of everything. My nephews and Neice and sister is the only reason I haven’t succeeded I think of someone telling them I ended it and them having to deal with the pain
I just need to quit being a sissy and pull the trigger. I have researched the whole thing ad nauseam and it is clear the caliber, the rounds and the placement should put me out of my misery for good and trying to get to the point is getting easier considering what happened today.
Please clean your firearm, get fresh ammo, and plan your trajectory very carefully (esp. wrt spinal cord). Remember that bones are there to protect vital organs. Bones deflect and fragment bullets.
And, make sure not to hesitate the slightest bit, at the last moment. (Something I regret doing)
May I suggest isolation … if you initially fail, blood loss will (hopefully) come to your rescue.
Someone mentioned “letting go of everything”. I second this.
One must let go of all Earthly attachments – your friends and family, your responsibilities and duties, your wealth and possessions, your perceived accomplishments, failures, and regrets … most importantly, all the emotions associated with all those things … they hold you back. You have to feel detached from all of them. It’s like you’re preparing your soul for its journey.
Let go of all those heavy burdensome thoughts and emotions holding you down on this Earth. Become light enough to spread your wings and fly.
That’s what I think it really is…. in order to succeed. You have to completely detach from people, places, and things… so it’s just you, your pain, and your way out.
What if I amready to let go but don’t have a weapon due to living in the UK? I need a secure plan, that won’t fail but I don’t know what is best. You seem like the person with the best knowledge in this
I don’t want to get in trouble with the moderators, so I’ll try to be as implicit as possible.
It all depends on what you are willing to endure … what you’re comfortable with.
The rope is in fact quick and quite likely to succeed, but you need isolation and the willingness to do your research (to do it right), and the willingness to endure 10 to 15 seconds of agony (assuming full suspension).
Information on other ways out are readily available online or in books.
I’ve found a much much better way for me that doesn’t require any violence. For me, it is perfect … it matches the type of person I am and my resources. VSED. It’s not for everyone, only those who are sure they don’t need to go on. Look it up.
If isolation is available to you, hypothermia is also an option. Look it up.
Of course, if you have money and are old enough, Dignitas in Switzerland is a short plane ride from the UK.
I could go on and on with ways out (I know most if not em all), but think about what you are capable of and what suits you.
I think the rope sounds best for me. Do you advise a height from the ground that will make a success? Thank you so much for advising me, I wish there was a way we could talk more in depth

Planning and determination.
I plan it perfectly but something always goes wrong
SeeSmith has it right, determination. I am trying to get there myself.
I guess I am scared of failing and just being injured. I don’t know how to succeed
You need to be sure in your heart and in your mind, that this is what you want for yourself.
If you are sure, then, your plan will leave nothing to chance, and your execution will leave nothing to chance.

Agree with this. Isolation and two ways out.
