Hey! I hope everyone’s doing good (as good as it gets here at SP)…
This is my first post but I’ve been lurking for a couple of weeks now, commenting here and there more recently. This site and all of you on it have been a massive help to me recently in many different ways and I wanted to thank you all for that.
I used to spend a lot of time drawing but haven’t been as much lately, this is the last thing I finished and it seemed pretty relevant to SP… (sorry for the poor photo Q).
I’ve noticed people occasionally post all sorts of awesome stuff they’ve made and I guess it’s a good coping mechanism for a lot of folks, be it music, poems, painting, photography, whatever it is that keeps you partially sane!
This might not be fitting with the site, but I was wondering if people would be interested in doing a sort of ‘Submission Sunday’, where one day a week we have a place that people can post absolutely anything they’ve made or that they’re proud of and share it with each other? Obviously anybody can just post this stuff whenever they want regardless, but I feel like it’d be nice to have it all in one place for us to share, and maybe it could even inspire others to make something of their own, to express or escape this lovely mess we’re all in called life! 🙂
Not sure what the best way to do it would be, but thought it’d at least be worth seeing if anybody would be interested or if it’s just a completely stupid idea.
Anyhoo, Take Care, SPers.

That is an amazing piece. And welcome 🙂 only thing that I make or am any type of crafty with is scrapbook pages but they’re nothing amazing and at the moment they’re packed but I think this is a great idea!
Thank you for the compliment and the welcome 🙂 If you’d feel comfortable sharing some of those scrapbook pages they’d be perfect for it, and I don’t think it should matter if if it’s something you’ve made recently, or years ago!
You never know, someone could post something that makes you think “Ah, I reckon I could have a go at that!” and before you know it you’ve found yourself a new hobby that’s you’re incredible at but simply never knew 😛
This is wild! Love the detail! You have some mega talent.
I am not all that creative myself so I wouldn’t be much of a contributor myself. I would however enjoy seeing what others create. I do have a poem I entered under the poems and art category called A Life Not Worth Living that people seemed to really enjoy and I have one more that I haven’t located yet… but that’s it for me as far as any creativity goes.
Jaded I wish I had the talent for poems I just can’t get the words out right. So post your poems I love it when people do that and I feel they’re just as creative as drawing or painting or any of that 🙂
Well Wanted here how the poetry comes to me… I will be in a very dark place and laying in bed not being able to sleep so I think of lines that rhyme and this one night I couldn’t fall asleep, I had to get up and scribble the words down… and it just started flowing…. it was like some sort of bizarre purge or something, like a demon I had to exorcise from my soul or I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep. It’s only ever happened twice….. otherwise I got nothing. I could never just sit down and write a poem, there is no natural flow for writing poetry like for some people …. it’s more like writers block.
I think the two I have come up with were fairly decent…. but it is definitely not one of my natural god given talents.
Ah cheers 🙂 It sounds cheesy but it’s very therapeutic, especially doing the dots.
Those poems would be perfect for this! Even if we don’t get a ‘Submission Sunday’ going you should still locate and share that other one if you can. Do you have a link to ‘A Life Not Worth Living’? I tried searching for it but I’m useless with this search bar, and I’d love to read it.
The way you describe the process of writing them feeling like a “bizarre purge”/ “Demon I had to exorcise from my soul” makes it sound very cathartic for you, did you feel better after getting them out? As you say, other people enjoyed them, and I think that’s very important to have here at SP. This site can be a very dark reflection for each of us, but it also has the potential to shine a little light on someone’s day and give them a little strength and promise.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.
First off, my friend, I have thoroughly enjoyed talking to you here. The stuff you wrote about forests was poetic. You are already one of my fav people here 🙂
Secondly, that drawing of yours is amazing ! Is it a monster with an hourglass ? Sorry, I can’t see very clearly on my small screen, but, it looks great. Can you explain the metaphor or the meaning of the art piece ? Obviously, each art piece has meaning to it, and yours seems deep.
I like your idea of Submission Sunday, too. Alas, I probably won’t make any of them, but others sure will 🙂
Welcome, and keep posting away !
Thank you, I’m flattered! I enjoyed our conversations as well 🙂
I haven’t been here long but I’ve seen a few of your posts/comments and always find them a treat to read and often insightful. Also, your writing is rather poetic too! Even from the brief interactions we’ve had, it makes me sad to think I got here just as you’re about to leave. It’s a shame people will find connections here that they’ve lacked their entire lives, only for those connections to depart moments later.
We’ve all gotta do what we’ve all gotta do, right? If I thought there was anyway I could convince you otherwise I would, but that’d be selfish and quite frankly feel patronising of me…
Thank you 🙂 I prefer not to go into meaning too much – it spoils the fun! – but the photo isn’t very clear so I’ll give you a bit more description. He’s no monster, more a man that has become a monster. The hourglass he drags is attached by hooks through his skin. His head is split open, releasing eyeballs with wings that attempt to fly away, but remain chained. He is holding something in his hand, it’s not clear what it is, but maybe it’s of some sentiment?
Make of that what you will 😛
It’s a pity if you aren’t able to make any of them, you’re poems you posted recently would be the perfect submission. I understand though.
Good luck on your travels, and I hope you find peace at their end 🙂
Take Care, Einsamkeit.
Thanks, friend. I will post again when I’ve figured out for myself what that drawing is about 🙂
Yes. This drawing is inspired(ink?). I like the idea. I would even try to participate in that with poems I write. Could be fun to stack several works under a single post, or post bunches from different people to poetry&arts all at once.
After seeing your poem post and just your writing here in general I I absolute think you should, they were really wonderful to read.
It looks like people would be interested so maybe we should just go for it, still unsure how to collect it all in one place/post but I’m sure we’ll find a way!
Forest, this is awesome I love your style. I too love drawing/ painting (lots of other crafty type things) and recently I haven’t been as I just cant seem to find the motivation but I think this is a fantastic idea and I would love to see more of your work even if it may take a little time for me to find the courage to share mine. Thank you for this flicker of inspiration, Forest.
Thank you, Link.
I too have had a lot of trouble finding the motivation, and thought this might be just the thing to get some back if we all see each other sharing and producing work maybe we could bounce off of each other a bit?
It’s uplifting to hear that even a couple of people have been inspired, because I’ve been so uninspired myself lately. If you have found the courage to post your story, or share your most personal feelings here, I think you’ll find the courage to share some of your work too 😛
That’s amazing, Forest! I like the idea of a Submission Sunday. Lots of talented folks on here. I write some short stories and poems sometimes. Too bad they aren’t that good, though!
Hey Pluto how ya been?
How have you been, Link?!
Thanks again, Plutes! I’ve just read your “some shit I wrote” post, and you can get out of here with that “Too bad they aren’t that good” talk.
I enjoyed reading that and would love to see more, especially if you’ve got some short stories hidden away behind that distant celestial dwarf of yours.
Gah! same old..
Gah! same old.. Stupid question really wunt it?!
Ha
oh my gosh I love your drawing!!
Thank you, Dawn! 🙂
Nice drawing. Submission Sunday, huh? I used to write some stories, heh. Should’ve seen me writing when I first joined in 2015.. but it’s just been dropping off since then, so, I eventually deleted all my stories from here, in hopes of posting them on my wordpress account, but even that makes me nervous for some reason.. I haven’t really written anything exciting in a long while. I can only hope that maybe I’ll get back into it…
