Ive been thinking about death and god and im not sure there is one, ive had anxiety attacks every night for the past 4-5 days i cant stop help me please
Hi. Have you seen a doctor. I was having panic attacks at a similar frequency a few months ago, and among other things the doctor gave me some valium (A sort of muscle relaxant often prescribed for acute anxiety), which you take when you feel a panic attack coming on. These are only for short term use, but they worked wonders for me in dodging panic attacks (which do make life almost unbearable).
This may help break the cycle.
My thoughts are with you.
PS.
I believe in God. And I know from my own experience that panic attacks are beyond horrible, and when you experience things like that, its hard to fathom how God could let anyone suffer through such things. I can’t explain why he/she would allow it, but I’m pretty sure each time you’ve gotten through one God is immensly proud of you and delights in your strength.
Hi I’m sorry to hear about your anxiety attacks, I know what they’re like but for me they only happened when my life got really bad.
Since you didn’t elaborate is it because you’re going through a difficult time or would you say your life is fine and there’s no reason for the attacks? Either way I’d recommend seeing a therapist, they can delve deeper and hopefully offer you a good solution.
It’s always good to question your beliefs, that’s how I became an Atheist and never looked back. I’d suggest watching videos/read books by famous atheists like Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Lawrence Krauss and others.
We all think about death at some point but obviously if you’re suicidal there must be some reason that is causing you to feel that way. In my case I was suicidal when things got bad in my life, they were extremely hard challenges which I eventually overcame. I still think about suicide now and then but not too seriously because my life right now isn’t too bad. Hope you feel better, all the best.
as kn said, it would be a good idea to talk to the doctor about it , medication can really help with anxiety, I’m medicated for anxiety and depression, its not a miracle pill but it does help tone it down for the most part, as for god, I’ve tried very hard to believe in the concept but religion has and always will be nothing but a political power tool for me sadly, and i could never believe in a man in the sky who would let the world fall to chaos for any reason. its sad. but it is what it is, i respect everyones beliefs however, i even went to church with my friend to support his beliefs. it is what it is. If you wanna talk let me know where i can contact you :]
You were fine before you started doubting God’s existence, right?
So what has changed? Only your beliefs. It’s not like God suddenly disappeared when you stopped believing in him. If he exists, he’ll keep existing regardless. If he doesn’t, he didn’t before either.
Think about it this way. If there is no God, there is only YOU. You are in control. What happens after death will be up to you if you continue existing. You could choose to see God and go to heaven or hell, or be in control of the sweetest dreams or get lost in the most horrible nightmares. Nothing will be permanent, and you will realise this complete control with time. This entire life could well be a vivid dream of a powerful consciousness unrestricted by the human mind. The consciousness is you, and you have chosen where you are right now. It is only TEMPORARY.
