Ambien/zolpide

Hey lostallhope. Ambien is some serious shit. I would say ‘be careful’ but that would make me a hypocrite because I just had some last night. For a laugh (literally some of these are funny), google “ambien stories”. There are a bunch of articles, websites and a long reddit thread about the crazy things people do on Ambien, not knowing until the next day. I can corroborate that. Once I accidentally took a double dose* and the next day all my furniture was rearranged, and someone had eaten all the eggs in the house. I live alone.

*I say accidentally, but it’s a known problem that people on want to take more, not realizing how much they’ve already taken.

Ok lets get serious for a minute. Go to google news and search “ambien suicide”. There’s a bunch. Not everyone obviously, but according to studies, ambien is the #1 chemical found in the bodies of suicide victims. I think it’s because, much like my furniture and egg episode, ambien makes you do things you feel like doing, without thinking. In my mind I needed to rearrange my furniture so ambien made me do it. You can see where this is leading. If, in your heart, you want to kill yourself, then ambien might be that little voice that convinces you it’s time.

Have you tried Benadryl (diphenhydramine)? It’s cheap, legal, over the counter and mostly safe. I say mostly because you quickly build up a tolerance and once you get to that point it has the opposite effect, causes severe anxiety, panics, etc. That’s why I quit. But in the beginning I remember it gave me sort of a buzzed happy feeling. I’m curious to hear others chime in with suggestions because I can’t do Benadryl or ambien anymore.
