I pay a good money for an insurance and the firsty time in my entire life that I need to go to a hospital I have to beg to be examined. Are they kidding me? I am in pain!! Shit. Stupid thrird Word country, stupid doctors. The doctor was really rude to me. They were like “I know you are in pain, but we just can operate you in february” Seriously? God, how I wish I had the guts to kill myself RIGHT NOW

It can suck in the US too. If you and a spouse are over 50 and self employed your health insurance premiums are far more costly than an average home monthly mortgage payment. Apartments are not an option in some areas because these rent for far more than home mortgage payments. In other words, for the self employed, many have to choose between putting a roof over their head or having medical insurance. I have chosen to keep the roof over my head.
And what about the service? Is it good when you need it?
It really depends. There are areas of the US in which the healthcare system is reputable and well-functioning. Sadly, there are also many places in which “well-functioning” would describe the opposite of local healthcare. If you have money, you can invariably get what you need when you need it. Money will let you travel to medical centers and facilities with high grades in the services they provide. Relying on the government for healthcare assistance and/or living in lower-income areas often (but not always) lead to sub-tier healthcare being provided.
I could not agree more. I am over 50 as well, Husband is over 60 and we are both treated like complete trash by doctors. I had a friend in the past who told me (she was a nurse) that doctors hate working on anyone over 40. They have been taught that anyone over 40 is likely just a hypochondriac seeking attention, and they are disposable and not worth your time. They laughingly refer to women over 40 as “4F”. So a nurse will hand a chart to the doc, or make a note on the chart that the patient is “4F”, which means Female, Fat, Fertile and over Forty. The doctors make those patients wait as long as possible, and they cut their appointments as short as possible, or they just try to hand them off to someone else to deal with. I know from experience that they ignore anything you say and just do the absolute minimum to get rid of you.
I broke my ankle a few years ago when I tripped over a hose in the yard. The doc was an ass, blamed the break on my being fat. I have not been back to any doc since then.
If you are not young and pretty, forget about getting decent health care in the US.
It seems like you discribed brazilians hospitals!!! So, Every doctor in the world is a jerk? Every health system is shit? Why?
Good question wanttodie2. There is a book entitled “Money Driven Medicine” and it explains what has happened to the US medical system. It is a thirty year old book but it seems as relevant as ever. I get pretty pissed as I read it so I only read a few pages at a time.
That Dr. sounds like a Hippocratic Oaf.
