I found out today that I contracted HSV-2 Herpes. I got it from my boyfriend who is an asymptomatic carrier (he did not know he had it). I know that this virus is manageable, but I feel so dirty, embarrassed, and feel so ashamed. I really want to curl up into a ball and just die.

You have no reason for shame. It’s manageable. He didn’t know and neither did you. No scarlet letter.
That virus is everywhere. I understand that you feel “dirty” for contracting an STD, but you can get HSV-1 from kissing. I know so many people with herpes. All my friends that got AIDS are dead. I don’t mean to give you the “it could be worse” bullshit. It’s devastating for you. But I think you can learn to live with it. Forgive yourself.
It’s going to be ok, you can manage it.
