Does anyone else constantly have dreams at night of lost loves, friends, or passions? Whenever I dream of those things, I feel much happier for the duration of my dream, only to wake up and continue living the much more lonely life that I do.
I can’t decide if I like having those dreams or not. They remind me of better times, but also remind me of how much worse things are now.
Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Yes often.
I have superficial dreams about doing routine things, like putting dishes in the cupboard or stacking things on skids. One of these days I’m going to have a dream about going to sleep and having a dream about going to sleep. It might not seem like it, but those closer-to-normal dreams are a gift that you’ll miss if you loose them.
I don’t remember my last dream. They’ve never really been anything exceptionally wonderful though. I used to have dreams in which I could breathe under water, run incredibly fast with no effort, gliding inches above the ground and only touching a foot to the earth every hundred feet or so. Flying dreams, in which I was in a frail ultra light aircraft, climbing and diving at steep angles, frightened to death of falling, but exhilarated. One dream about a person, a girl I liked many suns ago, but never had the courage to ask out. In that dream, I did, and it was great, until my alarm went off and that was that. I don’t dream of friends, their associated -ships, or really of people in general. In that way, my dream life reflects real life – empty, solitary. Recently, it’s been lots of night terrors, half awake half asleep, paralyzed and unable to move or snap out of it for a few moments of insanity, accompanied by loud screams. I used to drive a truck, and on more than one occasion, dozed briefly behind the wheel and experienced something like the very beginning of a dream, before snapping awake, probably only took two or three seconds max. That was fun. Yeah. I don’t remember the last real dream though.
I always remember my dreams and have repetitive ones…
And I have a detailed and documented premonition that even 3 years later I can remember all details and it still floors me….
We tend to dream what is on our hearts and minds, so yes. Usually it is a travesty of missed connections and misunderstood conversations. Sometimes they are wonderful dreams with laughter .
I’ve battled demons in my dreams.
There had been months of disturbed dreams, dangers and fears and waking up with a start.
Lately I have been dreaming of deceased beloved relatives.
Have you ever given your mind a job before retiring? Let it work out a solution for a problem you have. I hear it works.
You can also guide yourself through a dream when you learn to interpret them. The reason for this is part of you becomes an observer recording the dream. You are aware you are dreaming and listening to what your mind is showing you.
I used to have recurring dreams of places I’d never been. When I placed my observer self in the dream I was able to make them stop. Too much info, I’m sure.
It’s those dreams that transport you, where you are living in a different reality, that puzzle you as you wrestle against wakefulness. . . .
I do. I know how you feel 🙁
