Just fyi, calling the national suicide hotline isn’t anonymous. I don’t know if the person answering the call will see your information, but if you say something that concerns them, they will call the police and the police will have your full name and address (and probably other things)

Our local one tracks numbers, so that’s how they find you. It is of course entirely possible to make the call blind, but that may divert you to another hotline, or result in being dropped.
I don’t know if it matters, apart from meaning one must be slightly less than honest if they have intent. If you can “promise” to be safe, they’ll let you be, every time. Sometimes they promise to call back, to my experience they don’t. The idea is that the hotline is supposed to help. people calling it are seeking help, so they justify what they do on that basis.
well meaning, I guess, but they are the sort of people capable of believing they are helping even when that cannot be true.
Yea the first thing they ask is if you have plans to kys and if you say yes then you can expect the cops to shoot your door down. Just lie on that question and don’t let them know your intent and you’ll be ok like heartlessviking said. I got no gripe with the hotline, they try their best, but calling the cops on someone never ends well
If you call The Samaritans (a UK charity) they will stay on the line with you even whilst you take your life. They don’t call the police unless you talk about political/religious terrorism.
