I saw a mag, one day.
It had 5 women on the front page, ladies who are obviously famous. The tittle said ‘How i feel comfortable in my body’
I dont know how they are supposed to feel good about posting their bodies to the world, one of the ladies Ada Nicodemou, she’s an actress on home and away. She was pregnant. and still fit into a size 10. To me that is un natural.
What makes it worse, that these people they had in the article, they were all less than a size 10 and over 5’9″. Where the national average size for women is size 14 and like 5’4″. and one of the chicks where a professional swimmer!
That is false advertising.
That is what makes me want to put a knife on my love handles. I dont understand why anyone would advertise this image, when all it does, is make young people, like myself, feel like absolute SHIT.
Just a rant.

Sigh. You have to understand that the diet industry is a billion dollar industry. How can you sell diet pills to people comfortable in their skin? Impossible. The images? That is pure photoshop. Some people are naturally skinny, some are naturally larger. Besides, it;s a perfect way to control you. In a world more preoccupied with Ada Nicodemou’s ‘fab post baby bod’ people forget the important issues…
You are not shit. You are beautiful. You have an amazing body through which you can experience the world. When was the last time you were thankful for being able to walk or talk or laugh and cry? Your amazing body does that for you.
As an eating disorder survivour, I strongly urge you not to be manipulated by the evil media. There are more important things to care about. You’re above that, so much higher than that bullshit magazine.
Its not exactly false advertising, its misleading. I don’t know much about what a womans size 10 is, I know waistlines for men, myself 33, and 5’11”, 175 lbs at 51 years old.
I can say that I have had a poor self image since I was a child, big ears and skinny, always heard remarks why don’t you eat something, lanky, long tall drink of water etc.
I am told that as an adult I’m a handsome goodlooking man, yet that doesn’t change the messeges I told myself for years.
Now it doesn’t make any difference because I’m not wanting or looking for a mate, partner, love of my life kinda thing, I’m not even interested in casual sex with a woman. Life changes for some of us, having too look nice and be on the hunt is gone thankfully.
I know for young people the desire (natural) for them to want love and approval from others, from a special person, the desire for stability that comes from a loving partner. I wouldn’t want to go back to that for anything.
Hey your still young, there is always someone out there for each of us, even me if I should choose to seek this again.
Hope you feel better.
I do know how you feel, I have a weight problem my whole life, I am now 46, but going through school was a very hard thing with the way other young people treat you, they have no regard for what the words they are saying is having on someone at these young ages they dont care, as long as they are getting a laugh out of it at your expence. It does get better as you get older but I am by no means telling you that people are not still cruel and many people think it is a matter of self control or will power, all I can say to them is that they have no idea what they are talking about, you hold your head up and be proud of

Be proud of who you are, respect yourself and demand respect from others and you will get it, not from everyone but from most
While I agree that the media perpetuates an unhealthy myth that women must all be skinny, at the same time, australia is the most obese nation in the world. You say the national average is 14???!!! Well, I’m sorry but I don’t think that’s healthy at all. And I’m sure that has a lot to do with the increase in heart disease related deaths. Also have you noticed that clothes sizing is becoming bigger? A 10 is now labelled an 8. A 12 labelled a 10. I’m a true size 8, always have been, and now it’s impossible for me to find clothes because size 8 just kind of disappeared! So you think media brainwashes you to be skinny but on the other side of the coin, cloths sizing lies to you, saying you are thinner than you are.
Where do we go from here? Too fat or too skinny? All these conflicting messages.
Fingers crossed that common sense will prevail. Eat healthy and get regular exercise and dont give a shit what anyone else says.
Some people like a little chub it can be hot, if you dont like your weight there’s always proper medical pills you can take that raise your metabolism ect.
It’s amusing that the magazines claim that men crave these women. If you go online to any porn sight, you will find that most of the women who have a ton of views are much heavier than the anorexics on the front cover of the mags. Penthouse, Playboy and Hustler, usually sport girls who are a little thicker also. I myself, prefer heavier girls, as they usually don’t play all the head games “Barbie Bitches” attempt to get by with.
If your self image; your self.concept is founded primarily upon the external images created by this Psychotic society….you will be sick, and unhappy. You’re in a very very sick society, and that is the truth, nearly psychotic. So if your reality and goal is to totally conform to it’s whims and dictates, you’ll definitely become emotionally, and perhaps physically unhealthy. The intention of the corporations and their magazines, and media is to control and form You into their Product.
