If, after due and adult consideration, does a human have the right to a dignified death if they decide that life is too painful to endure on this planet? What do you think?
I think if the circumstances are bad and that person decides it.. and it will be better than living, then yes they have the right @vedura what do you think?
Absolutely yes. I think so, I think we are all entitled to that right.
But I think it’s a higly tough decision to make, and not one that should be made on a whim. I think if someone could talk to a psychologist or someone who was trained with compassion, and for 60 cosecutive days testify to that person each day that they no longer wish to live. Then they may be considered a candidate.
But we all dip into low parts of our life, little black holes with no light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes you do come out the other side alright, and find yourself glad you didn’t do it, because the current moment is so beautiful.
It’s about now really. You have to be happy now to be happy in the past, and by virtue the future.
Good point sand_dude, But after a certain prescribed time of therapy and evaluation, I believe people should be allowed to choose death, leaving this planet, for perhaps annihilation or perhaps a better life elsewhere.
vedura,
that is a choice that everyone should be able to have, if you don’t want to live for what ever reason and want to die, why should anyone tell you no? should people talk about it and debate yes but in the end the choice should be in the hands of the individaul.
to bad we didn’t get that option before we were born? 🙂 and yeah wtf i don’t have any childern i didn’t want to bring anyone into this world i’m not part of the problem. haha
Vedura, I thinks it’s the ultimate freedom to have the right to live or to die. It is your life, it’s your decision and no one should take that away from u.
The answer to this should be obvious. Sure you have that right. I am tired of people always saying “Oh you don’t want to do that” – talk is cheap as seen in suicide prevention – yet no one wants to “get their hands dirty” and actually physically help anyone, especially if it interferes with their own life. So yes, everyone has the right to doe however they see fit.
I was asked what I think. This is a very difficult matter, but I do believe, if after counseling and due consideration, life is unbearably painful, a person should have the right not only to choose to end that life, but to have assistance in making that transition peaceful and painless.
It feels cruel to listen to all the pain on this website and then expect the contributor to risk further pain by a botched suicide or painful death. It’s inhumane.
That said, I would want that person to make the decision after due counseling and considration once they are of legal age.
For teens, you could look forward to a release, but the teen years are so filled with change and turmoil that they are not a representative time to make that choice. Or so I at present feel to be true.
Bless you all. I know your pain. I have lived it and so far survived it.

i think we have the right to chose, our life belongs to no one but us… its wrong to think either religion or anyone else owns us in any way.

Of course. Anyone can do anything they want… they just need to be able to accept the consequences.
