There’s so much pain on this website. I wonder what would happen if we all left our lives to live on some island together, start anew. Would our situations improve? Would many of us find we no longer dream of killing ourselves, surrounded by people who understand? Or would our society end up very similar to this one? Put a bunch of people together, even those that seem similar, and you’re still going to have some friction.
I feel like I’ve been whiny lately. Sorry if I’m annoying. I should probably post less. I do listen to what people tell me, really I do. It may not seem like it because I can’t see truth in things outside my messed up brain. I file them away for “when I’m better.” More like “if.” I don’t know what the hell I’m doing.

It would quite possibly be the worst place on earth
Oh come on, we’re not THAT bad…
Everyone says to be truly happy you have to surround yourself with happy people. I like your idea though it would be nice to have understanding people around.
I believe there is some truth to that. Being around people that ***** and moan and say “woe is me” all the time obviously isn’t any fun. But… if I had to be “on” all the time for the happy people I can’t see how I’d stand it.
@SadBk Hmmm… I don’t know what it would be like if we’ld all live together… Even if we understand eachother here… it doesn’t make it certain that we’ld get along in real life… (sigh) Anyways… one thing I know for sure… even if we would be surrounded with people that understand us… the pain would still be there… It may fade but it doesn’t dissapear… So… I don’t know…
P.S You’re not annoying anyone. Post as much as you want! 🙂
There’s a wide range of personalities here, true. Only one thing (mainly) in common: most seem to be either pro-suicide or tolerant/sympathetic towards suicide — seems the only ones who aren’t come on here because they’re angry about a loved one who did it. They don’t need to come to the island. (who would be in charge of our weapons, hmmmmmm)
Escape may not fix our pain but may dull it for a while?
Thanks, maybe people are just annoyed in my head — I know it’s frustrating when someone doesn’t seem to listen. I have therapy tomorrow, I usually feel a little better after that :\
What would you name this paradise anyway
Good question. Umm… Margaritaville? If Jimmy Buffett wouldn’t take offense.
I love margaritas.
Open to suggestions.
There have been so many posts on here with the same idea of creating an island. I don’t think it’d work out for reasons I don’t concern myself with anymore.
It’s not exactly an original idea. Of course it’s not feasible. The internet brings people together much more realistically… and we can just ignore the people we don’t connect with, they’re not in our face all the time.
Call it “Suicide room”
although it wouldn’t be a room so..
Or maybe the Abyss.
And our queen/king will be called the Will of the Abyss
Pandora Hearts reference, I’m overly obsessed. =w=
Great movie. The “room” wasn’t really a room there either!
The will? Not the king/queen? Interesting. We’d have to have an election.
@SadBk Why make it only an island? 🙂 Why not make the whole Earth a place full of understanding and loving people? It would be awesome to live in such a place! Did you know that Jehovah God promised that He will soon bring such a change to Earth? That one day, humankind will be free of the problems that burden it now… disease, hate, crimes, even death. What do you think of such a promise, SadBk? Do you think it can come true? 🙂
Nah, that sounds like even more of a fantasy than my island! But if it gives people hope to believe it, good for them.
I suspect that to live in such a place harmoniously you’d have to be uncomplicated, tolerant and sincere amongst other things. If we possessed those qualities, your island would become unnecessary.
Tolerant and sincere, check. Uncomplicated… well, human beings as a whole are complicated creatures, with contradictions existing inside themselves they may not even be aware of… but when I was “alive” I was low maintenance and all about simple pleasures, if that counts for anything.
…and of course I can’t speak for anyone else on here >.>
@SadBk Hmmm… Yes, at first, it may seem like a fantasy… But the Bible talks about this promise as being certain to come true… Actually it gives us signs that this change will happen. Talking about the things that will precede it, the Bible says: “But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God.” (2 Timothy 3:1-4) So you see… the Bible talks about the last days of this system of things as being hard to deal with. And everyone can see it today… People, in general, are evil and are only getting worse. What do you think, SadBk? Don’t these times we live in look like “the last days” in the Bible?
Do these times fit that description? Maybe. Depends on how you look at things. I think “days” is a vague term when thinking of thousands of years… couldn’t our last days have been any time in the last century or so, going by this description?
I was perfectly happy with the world a year ago. *I* am the problem, not the world. (a narrow viewpoint, but I’m too naive to speak for the world)
And I don’t actually think people are evil.
The world is a pretty good place for a lot of people. Are they necessarily wrong?
@SadBk Well… I meant the last hundred of years or so… Cruelty… violence… have seen an all time high… and they have only been increasing in the last century… despite the efforts to make society look more “civilised”.
@Sublimity I guess it seems like a good place for the people that are rich… and blind to others’ suffering… How about the billions that suffer because of diseases, violence, death? And… to think of the millions of children that die of hunger each year… The world doesn’t seem like such a good world for them, now does it?
I’m agnostic. I don’t know what to make of the Bible. It was written by men, not God, and things may have been lost in translation along the way. I also have a hard time with the fact that there are so many religions in the world… all of them but one are wrong? Everyone thinks their own is superior to the others and they all have “proof,” but logic says they can’t all be true just because their followers want them to be. If that were so, I’d make up my own religion!
Yeah. Just because there are bad people doesn’t mean it’s a bad place.
There are an abundance of good people in this world.
Not just the wealthy but ordinary, compassionate people.
If I’m sat at the losers table, I might have encountered bad luck or I simply wasn’t good enough to compete. That’s not my opponents fault and I can’t criticise the game either. I was beaten fair and square.
To ask why there is disparity in the world is like asking why some is taller than I am, why they or more intelligent. Your born with what you’ve got and there’s no use crying about it afterwards.
If the roles had been reversed I can hardly imagine anyone on this site taking a moral stance all of a sudden.
@SadBk Hmmm… an agnostic… like I used to be… 🙂 Well… the Bible was written by men but it was inspired by God… And there’s plenty of proof to that… Yes there are so many religions today… But… the Bible clearly states that there is only one faith, only one true path. The true religion should teach people good values and also respect what they teach… values like love, kindness, forgiveness, compassion… Also it should follow the Bible’s teachings to the letter… since it is God’s Word. Teachings like honouring God’s name, Jehovah… talking to others about about God’s Kingdom and the blessings that it will bring to mankind… If this is true… don’t you think it’s very important to find the true religion? The one that leads to everlasting life, what God promises? 🙂
But doesn’t the Koran also state that there is only one true faith? What makes one better than the other?
You’re doing well at the “talk to others” part. I never liked that about organized religion. To each his own.
@Sublimity What if there was no game? What if everyone could be equal and happy? Wouldn’t that be much much better?
@SadBk I guess I already told you how you could identify the true religion… You may not like that I talk to others… But if things promised in the Bible are to come true, don’t you think people should know about them?
