people should have right to end their lives and those who help them should be free from prosecution

Most happiest thing that can happen to my life is suicide but it should be like a sleep or a zero pain pill…
We humans do any thing make our lives easier, we have roads, vehicles, restaurants, pubs and sp why not a legal assistance for suicide ?

Because suicide hurts our economy.
Society is still primitive in many of its aspects, it does not care to delve into the reasoning of actions and chooses only to see things at face value, which is incredibly shameful for a modern society. There is much stigma associated with suicide because it is difficult to understand from an outside perspective. Even here, as PainNLife posted, it is easy to take a person’s issues and minimize them in such a way that they become irrational, which is not the case. Suicide is seen as irrational to others which is why they disagree that it should be an option for a person to take. It’s unfair and cruel, but many people are narrow minded and refuse to attempt to understand what they do not experience themselves, many people also love to stick their fingers in others’ affairs even if it does not even affect them directly.
I could understand why suicide is “illegal”, as it does affect others to some degree. Murder is legal because society values a person’s life and the death of a family/friend through murder is a powerful tragedy. Suicide is very much the same, society values the person’s life and realize how it would affect others without taking into account how the person who wants to commit suicide feels. It’s a very selfish mindset to believe that a person does not have a right to their own life simply because they do not want to be affected by it. I strongly disagree with this notion and would be eager to kindle a resistance to it, if only I had the energy and resources lol
murder is illegal* damn, sorry
People are brainwashed into believing that life is a beautiful thing. I’ve read horrible stories about people suffering who wanted assisted suicide, but they died later on. They suffered helplessly.
@DN95
Life is objective and therefore neutral, it is not beautiful nor is it ugly. It is whatever you interpret it to be, and although I am not satisfied with my lifestyle, self or circumstances I believe that life in itself is beautiful. It has so many beautiful components such as animals, kind and wise people, lovely literature, poetry, chocolate milk and moon-shoes.
Whatever floats your boat though
fucking chocolate milk!
I don’t see why we can’t just make a compromise:
People are suffering, but can’t sufficiently alleviate their suffering, so they want to die.
How about we just let them smoke weed, without being hassled or threatened by the gov’t’s jack-boot-thugs? That way, no one has to die, but is instead allowed to alleviate their symptoms, in exchange for their willingness to stick around for those who would otherwise be distraught by their passing.
