I think I know what you mean. My friends are those that I spend a lot of time with. But when I want to express myself, vent out on someone to relieve myself of the pain or stress, I know that they would not be there to listen to me. It really is hard to find a “true” friend these days.
It depends on how you define friend. Lots of times people get confused with a “Friend” and an “acquaintance”. Then people start saying “friend” or “real friend”. A “real friend” is most commonly defined as just someone you can relate to and have by your side. I can say I’ve had one friend. And we would drop our worlds to get to the other persons side if we needed that to happen. I did it for her. She did it for me.
As of having yourself as a friend, I really respect that. Because it requires ‘self-love’ which for me is the hardest thing to ever earn. I can never be my own friend because I don’t find that friend quality inside of myself. If I fall, I don’t have the strength to pick myself up. But again, I respect your ability to befriend yourself.
@Peppermintmint “In the end, we are on our own”. I think that is next to impossible to find a valid explanation to either a “yes” or a “no”. Some people actually do find a true friend, or a true partner and are strong until their last days. And we don’t know what’s beyond that, so it’s hard to say.

Yeah. But in the end, we are on our own. 🙁
